I believe less and less in doing exhaustive end-of-year lists because rarely would the albums I would put in there follow me for years to come. I’m not quite sure what was on my 2016 List and even less sure that I’ve listened to the albums on that list many times this year. That being said, 2025 was the year I really got into Geese like most people, and I feel like I’ll listen to Getting Killed, 3D Country and lead singer, Cameron Winter’s debut album, Heavy Metal, for quite a bit, and I’ll surely pay close attention to what these birds are gonna lay.
If Geese is the latest fruit that spawned from crooked trees made of beautiful losers making rock and roll music, well, this one has exactly what I love! It’s noisy, weird as fuck, but it’s dying to say something real compared to all the ones I’ve tasted that felt bland or rotten.. I’ve been watching these trees grow all my life, watering them, waiting for something good to come out of them. I feel like I finally found one. I just hope their seeds will span a new wave of kids with Fender bass guitars trying to make art without compromise. This album gave me some hope for the future.
