Jon Spencer has been an influential and innovative force in the independent music scene since the mid-80s. An acclaimed live performer, he has toured all the continents except Antarctica and has released over 25 albums. He is the creator of fierce punk-influenced music that encompasses everything from American roots styles such as hill-country blues and rockabilly to industrial Noise and hip-hop.

Jon Spencer est une force influente et innovante sur la scène musicale indépendante depuis le milieu des années 80. Artiste de scène acclamé, il a tourné sur tous les continents sauf l’Antarctique et a sorti plus de 25 albums. Il est le créateur d’une musique féroce influencée par le punk qui englobe tout, des styles roots américains tels que le hill-country blues et le rockabilly à l’industrial Noise et au hip-hop.

Population II est un groupe engagé dans son désengagement, qui travaille avec une constance immuable sur le peaufinement d’un son imposant, mais sans prétention. Le trio, composé du chanteur/batteur Pierre-Luc Gratton, du guitariste/claviériste Tristan Lacombe et du bassiste Sébastien Provençal, est à la fois maître de la folie improvisée et de la composition raffinée, offrant un rock psychédélique pesant agrémenté des rythmes fiévreux du funk, de la philosophie du jazz, de l’énergie débordante émanant des premiers balbutiements du punk et d’un amour marqué pour les gammes mineures qui rappelle l’ascendance du heavy metal.

Population II is a band dedicated to its disengagement, constantly working on refining their imposing, yet unpretentious sound. A trio consisting of singer/drummer Pierre-Luc Gratton, guitarist/keyboardist Tristan Lacombe and bassist Sébastien Provençal, Population II are masters at both improvised madness and sophisticated composition, delivering heavy psychedelic rock infused with feverish funk rhythms, a hint of jazz philosophy, a burst of energy reminiscent of punk’s early days, and a love of minor scales that harkens back to the roots of heavy metal.
