Formé en 1980 à Montréal, Sword a sorti son premier album Metalized en 1986, décrit comme agressif, mélodique, bruyant et grossier. Mark Putterford de Kerrangs a déclaré : “Mes yeux sont d’une douloureuse couleur violette. Mes oreilles sonnent de façon tortueuse. Ma bouche est inondée de sang et de dents cassées, je viens de faire dix rounds avec un groupe de Montréal appelé Sword. “
Ils ont été choisis par Metallica pour ouvrir la partie québécoise de la tournée Master of puppets, la tournée canadienne Return of the nightmare d’Alice Cooper, puis ont sillonné le Royaume-Uni avec le puissant Lemmy sur la tournée Rock’n’roll de Motorhead.

They were hand-picked by Metallica to open the Quebec leg of the Master of puppets tour, Alice Cooper’s Canadian Return of the nightmare tour and then crisscrossed the UK with the Mighty Lemmy on Motorhead’s Rock’n’roll tour.
