The vibe check between these two artists is pitch-perfect. Myriam Gendron is a musician originally from Ottawa and now based in Montreal. She works as a copy editor and book dealer and discovered an anthology of Dorothy Parker’s poetry titled “Not So Deep as a Well,” which inspired her to put the poems to music. Myriam’s debut album, also titled “Not So Deep as a Well,” was recorded and mixed in her bedroom and showcases a brutally honest, mischievous, humorous, and melancholic style that captures the essence of love and hatred. Her latest album, “Ma Délire. Songs of Love, Lost and Found,” released in 2021, features her contemporary interpretations of popular Canadian and traditional songs from various cultures. Mamie Minch is an experienced blues musician from New York City. Her sound blends traditional blues and folk, and her performances on her 1930s National steel guitar convey toughness and pathos. Mamie’s passion for early American music developed as a teenager and continued as she connected with a community of 78 record collectors in New York City. She has collaborated with various artists and released her first solo album, “Razorburn Blues,” in 2008. Her latest solo release is the EP “Slow Burn,” which was produced and engineered by Dean Sharenow at Reservoir Sound in NYC’s historic Midtown recording district. The vibe check between these two artists is pitch-perfect. Chris Corsano is a drummer with a highly personal musical language through ecstatic free improvisation, extended percussion techniques, and an innovative approach to the drum kit that includes resonating drum heads with bowed strings and circular-breathed reeds. Playing with Zoh Amba, a memorable evening indeed.
