Prepare for a dynamic unfolding of spontaneous sound, commencing with a quartet featuring the shape-shifting multi-instrumentalist Fahmid Nibesh, the soul-stirring vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Cordelia Donovan, a voice traveling to us from Vancouver, the boundary-blurring violinist Élise Paradis, and the imaginatively inventive multi-instrumentalist Chloe Jackson-Reynolds.
The aural journey continues with the Montreal-based trio H ii Regions (saxophonist Aaron Leaney, bassist Nicolas Caloia, and drummer Jahsun Promesse), whose visceral and heartfelt improvisations navigate the post-pandemic emotional terrain through a singular jazz-rooted lens.
Further enriching the evening’s soundscape, a compelling set will conjure unique aural textures from sound artist and instrument builder Anne-F Jacques, the potent nêhiyaw/denesųłiné creative spirit Jarrett Martineau, and Montreal-based composer, performer, and sound sculptor Joël Lavoie.
The night culminates in a powerful confluence of sound with a trio uniting the internationally acclaimed Mexican double bassist Adriana Camacho, , the visionary pianist Lisa Cay Miller, another vital sound journeying from Vancouver, and the renowned composer/percussionist and six-time GRAMMY nominee John Hollenbeck, whose auditory explorations resonate across continents.
