Story of the Year is an alternative rock, post-hardcore and sometimes post-grunge band formed in 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri. The band’s original name was Big Blue Monkey. It changed its name to Story of the Year in 2002 after releasing their EP Story of the Year on independent label Criterion Records, and realizing that a blues band was already using the Big Blue Monkey name. On March 8, 2013, the band officially reformed.

Il change de nom en Story of the Year en 2002 après avoir commercialisé leur EP intitulé Story of the Year sur le label indépendant Criterion Records, et après avoir réalisé qu’un groupe de blues utilisait déjà le nom de Big Blue Monkey. Le 8 mars 2013, le groupe se reforme officiellement.
