Leaping out of the mists of time with a deadly flying kick, the 1983 Hong Kong movie Shaolin Vs. Wu Tang, directed by and starring that bald blizzard of fists Gordon Liu, is a classic of kung-fu kicking of ass on film. If the title is familiar, that’s because it’s also that of the fifth album, Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon. In fact, it’s where Wu-Tang originally got their name, and the foundation of their pop-cultural philosophy (and a few familiar samples!). This live-stream will be hosted by the sifu of Wu-Tang himself, RZA, accompanied by Dan Halsted, head programmer at the Hollywood Theatre. Expect a lot of insights, fun facts, and fight-scene assessments from what’s the first of hopefully many such streams at 36 Cinema, the film component of RZA and Mustafa Shaikh’s commercial empire, 36 Chambers.
Tickets are $10, the show gets going at 9:15 pm EST, right here.
