Le collectif vocal Phth s’investit en corps et en voix dans cette interprétation viscérale et onirique de l’œuvre Love Songs du compositeur québécois Claude Vivier. Cette vidéo d’art revitalise l’œuvre du renommé compositeur québécois, tout en restant sensible à son style fantaisiste et dramatique. Sensible aux acquis du milieu queer depuis la création de l’œuvre en 1977, les structures relationnelles hétéronormatives de la partition y sont subverties, célébrant l’ambiguïté de genre et de sexualité. Pour compléter le programme, une projection de Light, un mono-opéra composé par Jimmie LeBlanc qui revisite un moment central dans le triptyque Hell Light Flesh (2020) de l’écrivaine montréalaise Klara du Plessis (Afrique du Sud/Canada), une œuvre poétique et narrative où une écrivaine se remémore, à travers la création, un moment de complicité avec sa mère, alors que celle-ci tentait de la protéger de la violence domestique que le père infligeait à son fils aîné.

This art video revitalizes the work of the renowned Quebec composer while remaining sensitive to his whimsical and dramatic style. Sensitive to the queer milieu since the work’s creation in 1977, the heteronormative relational structures of the score are subverted, celebrating the ambiguity of gender and sexuality. Rounding out the program is a screening of Light, a mono-opera composed by Jimmie LeBlanc that revisits a central moment in Montreal writer Klara du Plessis’ (South Africa/Canada) triptych Hell Light Flesh (2020), a poetic and narrative work in which a writer recalls, through creation, a moment of complicity with her mother as she tried to protect her from the domestic violence her father inflicted on his older son.
