Le pianiste Rami Khalifé, fils du grand chanteur et compositeur Marcel Khalifé, vous ouvre les portes de son âme pour un ciné-concert saisissant. Cette fusion absolue entre une œuvre musicale forte et les images d’un Liban personnel, captées par le cinéaste François Rousseau, prendra d’assaut vos sens et votre cœur. Vous y découvrirez, sous un déluge d’émotions, les contrastes frappants d’un pays qui oscille entre la résilience, la beauté et le désarroi.

Enfant prodige des musiques classiques arabe et occidentale, Rami Khalifé s’est très vite révélé comme un musicien hors norme, aussi éclectique qu’audacieux. Il a ainsi composé, à l’intention d’orchestres, des concertos et des requiems, des trames sonores pour des films documentaires et  de fiction, se démarquant également avec Aufgang, son groupe électro classique des plus innovateurs. Avec son style impressionniste pénétrant, Rami Khalifé s’est imposé comme l’un des compositeurs les plus excitants de ce début du XXIè siècle.

Le ciné-concert LOST renvoie au sentiment de perte et de solitude, à la nostalgie d’un pays jamais oublié. De la frénésie de la ville au calme des forêts de cèdres, de la dureté des camps de réfugiés à la cohabitation des communautés religieuses, vous serez transportés dans un monde bouleversant de plénitude et de difficultés, symbole d’un Liban à la déroute, à la fois Eldorado et source nostalgique de souvenirs lointains.

Pianist Rami Khalifé, son of the great singer and composer Marcel Khalifé, bares his soul in this remarkable concert film. Director François Rousseau weaves Khalifé’s music into a personal, unflinching portrait of Lebanon that will capture your heart and ignite your senses, unveiling the striking contrasts of this country where beauty, devastation depicted by the photos of Lebanese war photographer Jamal Saidi, and resilience can be found in equal measure.

A child prodigy and a graduate of the prestigious Julliard Music School- NY, who grew up playing both Arab and Western classical music, Rami Khalifé has forged his own path, as eclectic as it is bold. His compositions run the gamut from orchestral works to documentary and feature film soundtracks. He is also the founder of the classic electro group Aufgang, an experimental music ensemble. With his distinctive impressionistic style, Rami Khalifé has emerged as one of the most exciting composers of the twenty-first century.

LOST, Return to Beirut explores feelings of grief, solitude and yearning for a bygone Lebanon. From bustling city scenes to serene cedar forests, bleak refugee camps to harmonious multi-faith communities, audiences will discover a world of both abundance and strife, a Lebanon in disarray where memories of past glories are tempered by pangs of nostalgia.
