Williwaw est animé par une curiosité sonore sans limites et par l’émerveillement de redéfinir, à sa façon, ce que les instruments à vent peuvent être. Les trois musicien.ne.s explorent ensemble les dynamiques entre le son simple et la vibration d’autres sons créés à partir d’objets et de préparations instrumentales. Leur pratique fait de l’improvisation une force vivante et exploratoire – une invitation à transformer le familier et à révéler des textures insoupçonnées nichées au cœur de leurs instruments. Leur programme propose un parcours de miniatures ou l’improvisation est au cœur de leurs manigances, ponctuée par quelques pièces composées qui tranchent par leur réductionnisme contrastant. Le trio est heureux de faire paraître son premier album éponyme sur l’étiquette Tour de bras en septembre 2026. La réalisation de celui-ci fut supportée par une résidence à Orford Musique en 2025 ainsi que par la participation financière du Conseil des arts du Canada.
Williwaw is driven by a boundless sonic curiosity and the wonder of redefining, in his own way, what wind instruments can be. The three musicians explore together the dynamics between simple sound and the vibration of other sounds created from objects and instrumental preparations. Their practice makes improvisation a living and exploratory force – an invitation to transform the familiar and reveal unsuspected textures nestled in the heart of their instruments. Their program offers a journey of miniatures where improvisation is at the heart of their schemes, punctuated by some composed pieces that stand out for their contrasting reductionism. The trio is happy to release its first eponymous album on the label Tour de bras in September 2026. The realization of this album was supported by a residency at Orford Music in 2025 as well as by the financial participation of the Canada Council for the Arts.
New Origin avec Susanna Hood
Le clarinettiste français Christophe Rocher rejoint les musiciens américains Joe Fonda et Harvey Sorgen dans leur univers unique qui relie résolument cette époque instable à la folle liberté de ces musiques à travers un langage mélodique totalement atypique, poétique et explosif. Pour ce concert, ils seront accompagnés sur scène par Susanna Hood, danseuse, interprète, et créatrice canadienne, qui a consacré sa carrière à la synthèse de la voix et du mouvement. NEW ORIGIN fait vibrer l’espace-temps à travers une musique libre et colorée reliant les États-Unis à l’Europe, musique savante et liberté sauvage.
The French clarinetist Christophe Rocher joins the American musicians Joe Fonda and Harvey Surround in their unique universe that connects this unstable era to the wild freedom of this music through a completely atypical, poetic and explosive melodic language. For this concert, they will be accompanied on stage by Susanna Hood, dancer, performer and Canadian creator, who has dedicated her career to the synthesis of voice and movement. NEW ORIGIN makes space-time vibrate through a free and colorful music connecting the United States to Europe, scholarly music and wild freedom.
