Purahéi Soul au Club Balattou

Fri 17 Jun 2022 • 09:00 pm Blues / Jazz
Club Balattou - Montréal 10$
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

The duo was born in 2013 when Jennifer Hicks and Miguel Narvaez met. Presenting folk songs and reversible jazz and blues standards as a “tribute to all the music that drives and inspires them.”

Purahei means “to sing” in Guarani and Soul alludes to both African American sounds and its meaning in the English language. In the development process, they arrived at the concept of searching for a sound that achieves fusions with identity, honors diversity, and works to cooperatively construct an artistic and aesthetic concept with awareness and responsibility.

In 2018 they released their first material “Swing Guaraní”, an album with 11 songs in Guaraní, Spanish and English.

This opus is a journey through the languages of jazz, blues and Latin American and Paraguayan folklore. The duo has toured throughout Paraguay, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, England, France and Germany. After the success of the hit “Desapego”, the duo released their second single “Ymaitéma Piko”, which was very well received by the public. The duo is currently working on the production of their second album “Bloque Guaraní”, which is scheduled for release in April 2022.
