Oktoecho, en collaboration avec le collectif australien Corrina Bonshek & Collaborators, présente « Song to the Whales/Chant de la baleine », un projet musical international d’envergure réunissant artistes inuit, māoris et aborigènes et allochtones du Canada, de Nouvelle-Zélande et d’Australie.
Rassemblés autour d’un thème commun – l’océan et les baleines, êtres spirituels centraux dans de nombreuses traditions – ce projet se veut à la fois une célébration et un appel à l’action.
Inspirée des chants traditionnels maoris, aborigènes et inuit, cette œuvre fusionne voix ancestrales et instrumentation contemporaine. Elle propose un voyage sensoriel célébrant la force symbolique de la baleine, tout en éveillant les consciences à la nécessité de préserver les écosystèmes marins.
Oktoecho, in collaboration with the Australian collective Corrina Bonshek & Collaborators, presents “Song to the Whales”, an ambitious international musical project bringing together Inuit, Māori, Aboriginal, and non-Indigenous artists from Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
United by a common theme — the ocean and whales, spiritual beings central to many traditions — this project is both a celebration and a call to action.
Inspired by traditional Māori, Aboriginal, and Inuit songs, the piece blends ancestral voices with contemporary instrumentation. It offers a sensory journey that honours the symbolic power of the whale, while raising awareness about the urgent need to protect marine ecosystems.
