Kris Kinokewin est un auteur-compositeur-interprète atikamekw né à Wemotaci. Son parcours musical est aussi riche que varié. En 2007, il fonde son groupe familial Kinokewin, qui lance son premier album Nehirowisw (2015). En 2024 il entame sa carrière solo et dévoile les singles Ekote Aci et Kiapatc (Productions Gébé), ainsi que Onicka, réalisé lors d’une escale Musique Nomade à Wemotaci. Ces morceaux ouvrent la voie à son deuxième album, Pe Kiwan, réalisé par David Robert et lancé le 11 avril 2025 sous le label Manito Productions. L’importance que Kris accorde à la langue atikamekw se refl ète dans chacune de ses compositions. Son style folk, sa passion sincère pour la musique et son engagement envers ses racines culturelles font de Kris Kinokewin une voix incontournable de la scène musicale atikamekw, offrant au monde une perspective à la fois intime, authentique et culturellement riche.
Kris Kinokewin is an Atikamekw singer-songwriter born in Wemotaci. His musical career is as rich as it is varied. In 2007, he founded his family band Kinokewin, which released its fi rst album Nehirowisw (2015). In 2024, he began his solo career and released the singles Ekote Aci and Kiapatc (Productions Gébé), as well as Onicka, produced during a Musique Nomade stopover in Wemotaci. These tracks paved the way for his second album, Pe Kiwan, produced by David Robert and released on April 11th 2025 under Manito Productions. Kris’s commitment to the Atikamekw language is refl ected in each of his compositions. His folk style, sincere passion for music and commitment to his cultural roots make Kris Kinokewin an essential voice on the Atikamekw music scene, offering the world a perspective that is intimate, authentic and culturally rich.
