Studio TD - Montréal 15$
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

With Dankoroba, Djely Tapa continues to pursue his artistic vision at the crossroads of Malian and Western cultures—past, present, and future. A native of the Kayes region in western Mali, Djely Tapa embodies the wisdom-filled words and vocal artistry of the griots—iconic figures of both ancient and contemporary Malian society, whose origins date back to the 13th-century Mandinka Empire. Her repertoire blends Mandinka traditions, desert blues, and electronic sounds. She made her solo debut in 2019 with her album Barokan (2020 JUNO Award for World Music Album of the Year), and her album Dankoroba received the 2025 JUNO Award for Global Music Album.
