With Après on va où ?, Michel Rivard continues his exploration of narrative theatre by blending poetry and song. Accompanied on stage by three musicians, he presents a gentle and clear-eyed work, full of tenderness and humor, a sensitive journey carried by what transcends us, connects us, and elevates us. During the two (symbolic) weeks of the magnificent magnolia bloom that brightens his bedroom window, “the man who resembles me” (74 years old) reflects on his life, before and after death, confronting both his doubts and his certainties. Between a medical appointment and choosing an urn from a catalog, between a first love and a walk in the forest with his seven-year-old grandson, “the man who resembles me” delivers a monologue, weaving poetry and song in his search for something greater than himself.
