Le Festival Nuits d’Afrique présente Sophie Lukacs

Sun 17 Jul 2022 • 08:30 pm Folk

An astonishing yet perfect marriage of Canadian and Hungarian folk with popular Mandinka rhythms, Sophie Lukacs, who sings in English, French, Hungarian and Bambara, composes ballads that cross through time and space. Initially trained on the violin, she fell in love with the kora as soon as she hear it and set out to learn the gentle, majestic 21-stringed instrument under the guidance of the legendary Toumani Diabaté and has since collaborated with many Malian musicians, including the truly enchanting Habib Koité.
