Le Festival Classica présente Edna Stern – Mozart rencontre Galuppi

Sun 29 May 2022 • 02:00 pm Classical

The celebrated Venetian composer Baldassare Galuppi was considered the most popular opera composer of his time. Mozart made three trips to Italy between 1769 and 1773. This concert imagines a meeting between the old Galuppi and the young Mozart. It is fascinating to listen to them and realize that, while they were from different generations and countries, entire movements by Galuppi could easily be mistaken for Mozart. The works featured in this program testify to Galuppi’s influence, both on Mozart and on the development of the classical style.
