Lou-Adriane Cassidy is no longer a name that needs introduction. Her participation in the triumphant concert series Le Roy, la Rose et le Lou[p] — twice named a historic moment by La Presse (in 2021 and 2023) — is proof enough. The glowing reviews she continues to receive suggest that she is one of the artists carrying the future of Québécois chanson in her hands. Her third album, Journal d’un Loup-garou, marks yet another new beginning for the artist. Gone is the French-influenced chanson, as well as the grunge-tinged new song that defined her first reinvention. Lou-Adriane Cassidy now stands at the crossroads of multiple boundaries, more shapeshifting than ever before. She displays a disarming vulnerability, delivers a fierce takedown of the entertainment industry, embodies a monster trapped in its condition, and seeks absolution for both herself and her father, who left when she was sixteen. Singing with a freedom and power previously seen on stage — but perhaps never so clearly captured on record — Lou-Adriane Cassidy now navigates more pop and contemporary waters than in the past. With Journal d’un Loup-garou, she unveils a clear and determined artistic vision — a pure act of will that unmistakably opens a new chapter in today’s chanson.
