Scorching Tomb (21h)

Born in the sewers of Montreal in 2018, it all started with a simple goal : blending old fashioned death metal and modern hardcore together in a city where technical death metal reigns supreme. It didn’t take long for the band to make a name in the underground tho. Fast, old school riffs, pummeling mosh parts mixed with energetic stage presence quickly earned Scorching Tomb attraction, especially in the hardcore scene. Initially formed by tattoo artist Vincent PL on vocals and axeman Philippe Leblanc, ST has now its hardest lineup to date by adding Miguel Lepage (ex- Blind Witness, ex- Obey the Brave) on bass and Émile Savard (Profane Order, ex- Malebranche) on drums, turning the band from another local act into an absolute fucking weapon. The time has come to follow the path of Cryptopsy, Quo Vadis and Despised Icon and show the world that Montreal is still to this day a reckless, unrelenting force of death metal.

Despised Icon (22h)

Despised Icon have long been hailed as pioneers of extreme metal, and their 2002 debut Consumed by Your Poison marked a seismic shift in the genre. At a time when death metal and hardcore rarely intersected, the Montreal band fused both worlds into something ferocious and new—what would soon become known as deathcore. Touring relentlessly with genre titans like Cryptopsy, Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Hatebreed, and Napalm Death, Despised Icon quickly earned respect across a wide musical spectrum. Their sound—defined by savage vocals, explosive breakdowns, and relentless blast beats—helped launch a movement alongside peers like Suicide Silence and Carnifex. Though the term “deathcore” has been debated and dismissed by some, there’s no denying the genre’s impact—and Despised Icon’s foundational role within it. After disbanding in 2010, the group’s members explored other musical paths, returning in 2016 with renewed clarity and intensity. Now, they embrace their legacy without hesitation. Despised Icon are back with full force, standing as one of the original architects of a sound that forever altered extreme music. No frills, no compromise—just pure, unrelenting power. The kings of deathcore have returned, and they’re not going anywhere.
