Originaire d’Ann Arbor, au Michigan, Colin Stetson a passé une décennie à peaufiner son talent de corniste, entre Brooklyn et San Francisco, avant de s’installer à Montréal en 2007. Collaborateur de plusieurs artistes de renom tels que Tom Waits et Bon Iver, ses titres figurent à la trame sonore de nombreux films. Il a su développer un style solo unique, principalement au saxophone et à la clarinette. Ses prouesses techniques, son talent d’auteur-compositeur et sa relation symbiotique avec son instrument produisent des chansons polyphoniques, riches en émotions, qui transcendent l’expérience musicale attendue du cor solo.
Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Colin Stetson spent a decade between Brooklyn and San Francisco honing his talents as a horn player, before settling in Montréal in 2007. A collaborator to many renowned artists, including Tom Waits and Bon Iver, and figuring among the credits for many movie scores, Stetson developed his unique voice as a soloist, mainly on saxophone and clarinet. With technical prowess, exhilarating songwriter skills and astounding physical engagement with his instruments, he produces emotionally rich and polyphonic compositions that transcend all expectation for solo horn playing.
