A grand, contemporary stage conception to honor the life and work of this great Québécois. This show is not merely a tribute to Félix Leclerc, a foundational figure of Québec culture who influenced today’s greatest artists. It is an original, multidisciplinary celebration combining music, circus, theatre, illusion, and video, where 19 artists gathered on stage will reveal his life and fragmented body of work from multiple perspectives. The soul of Félix will be omnipresent, like a will-o’-the-wisp from the past in dialogue with the present. The stage transforms rapidly before your eyes, from the boreal forest to the streets of Paris, from childhood reverie to political awakening. A long journey in the footsteps of our “angry lark,” discovering his lesser-known influences and the sparks he ignited in those around him. Even today, many artists and thinkers continue to be shaped by his influence. You will be surprised by the versatility and modernity of this radio man, poet, screenwriter, fabulist, actor, essayist, laborer, trailblazer, and activist, too often reduced to a brilliant career as a singer. By crossing his thousand lives, it is Québec itself that you will see evolve, as its emerging musical scene and its socially charged thinking opened themselves to modernity, at the same time Félix was learning his lessons of freedom. We still carry them today.
