En tant qu’artiste, Dominic Fike a été reconnu pour la première fois alors qu’il créait des morceaux avec son producteur et les publiait sur SoundCloud, où les gens pouvaient les écouter et les apprécier. Il a sorti son premier EP à l’âge de 21 ans en tant qu’artiste indépendant, qu’il a enregistré alors qu’il était en résidence surveillée pour avoir agressé un officier de police. Les maisons de disques se sont intéressées à cet album de rap et ont fait des offres pour obtenir son attention et son partenariat, ce qui l’a finalement amené à signer avec Columbia Records après sa sortie de prison.

As an artist, Dominic Fike would first received recognition when he would make beats with his producer and released several songs on SoundCloud, where people could listen to them and enjoy them . He would release his first EP at the age of 21 as an independent artist, which he would record while he was on house arrest for battery of a police officer. Record labels would gain further attention of this rap album and bid for his attention and for his partnership, eventually, leaving him to sign with Columbia Records following his release from jail.
