De Mozart à Chostakovitch : l’humanité en mouvement

Mozart en visite à Paris lors d’une tournée européenne; Ravel ébloui par l’effervescence de la vie nord-américaine; Chostakovitch assistant au retour des soldats russes en 1945. Dans la joie, la tourmente ou l’espoir, trois œuvres importantes témoignent d’une humanité en mouvement, à la rencontre de l’autre ou à la recherche de soi-même. Plus près de nous, le Québécois Simon Bertrand propose dans Weltengeist une réflexion sur un monde immobile et confiné avec force expressivité et résilience. Sous la direction du chef canadien Jordan de Souza, ce programme inspirant de voit briller l’OSM et le pianiste suisse Francesco Piemontesi.

Ravel, Concerto pour piano en sol majeur (23 min) 
Simon Bertrand, Weltengeist [Esprit du monde] (10 min) – création mondiale, commande de l’OSM 
Chostakovitch, Symphonie no 9 en mi bémol majeur, op. 70 (27 min) 

Mozart visiting Paris during a European tour. Ravel dazzled by the excitement of North American life. Shostakovich witnessing the return of Russian soldiers in 1945. With joy, torment, and hope, three significant works bear witness to humanity in movement, facing the other, and searching for self-understanding. Closer to home, Quebec composer Simon Bertrand’s Weltengeist conveys the still world of confinement in an expression of strength and resilience. Under the direction of Canadian conductor Jordan de Souza, this inspiring program brilliantly showcases the OSM and Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi.
