Ayant grandi au sein d’une famille ayant une riche histoire en marge du son et de la performance, James, plus connu sous le nom de Dari Bay, a commencé très tôt dans la musique, faisant des tournées et enregistrant dès l’âge de 12 ans. Il s’est ensuite orienté dans de multiples directions, se lançant dans la production pour d’autres artistes et s’essayant à tout, du DJ-ing à l’improvisation bruitiste. La création de Dari Bay a été un moyen d’explorer une partie plus individuelle de son identité musicale, quelque chose de distinct des divers projets de collaboration dans lesquels il était impliqué. James a commencé à écrire des chansons très conceptuelles sur la nature, la magie, le surnaturel et d’autres bizarreries éphémères, qui se présentent sous la forme d’éclats d’une minute de psych-pop futuriste lo-fi.
Growing up in a family with a rich history in the fringes of sound and performance, James, better known as Dari Bay, got an early start in music, touring and recording as early as 12 years old. He branched out in multiple directions from there, getting into producing for other artists and dabbling in everything from DJ-ing to noisy improv. Forming Dari Bay served as a means to explore a more individualized part of his musical identity, something separate from the various collaborative projects he was involved with. James began writing highly conceptual songs about nature, magic, the supernatural, and other ephemeral weirdness that whirred by in the form of minute-long blasts of futuristic lo-fi psych-pop.
