Irdens Exantus

The witticism comes from him, Irdens Exantus, he’s “He-Whose-Name-No-One-Knows-How-to-Pronounce.” He’s also “The-One-You-See-Everywhere,” needless to say. Guibord s’en va-t-en guerre on the big screen; Royal, Dix quatre and Rome on stage; Les Armes, Fragments, Sketches Kamikazes! and Antigang on television; Pa t’mentir and La soirée Mammouth online. The Montrealer of Haitian origin is clearly not the procrastinating type. The saxophonist-pianist-singer-songwriter ushered in summer with a fiery pop-rap on an R&B groove, his first full-length released under his real name. “Showing your true nature here is risky, but we’re not afraid of anything.” Dancefloor-ready.

A rising figure on Quebec’s alt-R&B scene, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Naïma Frank, of Haitian descent, unveiled “Royallll” in September—an audacious, danceable and radiant track, the first single from an eagerly awaited 18+ album set to be released in January 2026. Driven by lush harmonies, warm percussion and a deep, hypnotic bass line, the song—like the album, it is said—celebrates bodies, gazes, confidence and uncompromising self-assertion.
