“Battements” is an instrumental music concert that will take advantage of the magnificent acoustics of the Chapelle Saint-Louis. Bringing together pieces that explore the very essence of sound, such as intonation and timbre, this instrumental concert is sure to charm and intrigue alike.
“Rimes défaites par le Sphinx” is a project of songs in “just intonation” for two voices and two guitars in just intonation (according to Simon Martin’s design). When we listen to sounds (the sounds of music, the sounds of life), we hear them through the prism of culture. How can we free our ears from the overly familiar and let ourselves be carried away by the charm of the unknown? Perhaps through songs (an overly familiar form!) sung in an unusual yet intoxicating temperament?
“Tracé, Fossile” is inspired by the slow mineralization of organic matter. Through a gradual metamorphosis from fluid sounds to rough textures, this piece is conceived as a summary of a fossilization process spanning several geological eras. Through the progressive increase in density and the gradual rarefaction of movement, both temporal and physical, “Tracé, Fossile” constitutes a reflection, even a meditation, on the future of matter.
At the end of each concert, post-show discussions allow spectators to ask the artists their questions. This allows the public a better understanding of the works presented and the artistic approaches of the artists programmed with a perspective of exchange, sharing and democratization of contemporary musical works.
