Le groupe montréalais, mené par le compositeur Jason Sharp et le poète Kaie Kellough, lance son premier album: un mélange de out-jazz, post-classique, métal drone/ambiant, avant-rock, musique électronique et d’art oral dans une œuvre épique à propos de la polycrise actuelle.
FYEAR est l’ensemble montréalais mené par le compositeur Jason Sharp et le poète/écrivain Kaie Kellough. Fusionnant l’art oral dans des compositions pour deux voix, deux batteurs, saxophone, guitare pedal steel et violons, FYEAR incorpore out-jazz, post-classique, métal drone/ambiant, avant-rock et musique électronique dans une palette sonore et stylistique à l’opposé du collage ou du pastiche: l’ensemble FYEAR transmet un son/esthétique unique et unifié tout en traversant un terrain aventureux et bigarré. La poésie de Kellough véhicule des thèmes politico-existentiels aigus, alternant entre des manifestations déclaratives, méditatives et cut-up/sémiotiques.

The Montreal band, led by composer Jason Sharp and poet Kaie Kellough, releases their debut album: a blend of out-jazz, post-classical, drone/ambient metal, avant-rock, electronic music and oral art in an epic work about the current polycrisis.
FYEAR is the Montreal-based ensemble led by composer Jason Sharp and poet/writer Kaie Kellough. Fusing oral art into compositions for two voices, two drummers, saxophone, pedal steel guitar and violins, FYEAR incorporates out-jazz, post-classical, drone/ambient metal, avant-rock and electronic music into a sonic and stylistic palette that is the opposite of collage or pastiche: the FYEAR ensemble conveys a unique and unified sound/aesthetic while traversing adventurous and variegated terrain. Kellough’s poetry conveys acute politico-existential themes, alternating between declarative, meditative and cut-up/semiotic manifestations.
