Mon 30 Jan 2023 • 08:00 pm Poetry
Cabaret Lion d'Or - Montréal 25$
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Following their series of short films Captures d’audace, Marie-Hélène Panisset and Charles Papasoff join forces once again to offer Captures d’audace en scène, a collection of shows that combine cinema, music, dance and poetry, in performances that bring together on stage a host of artists from the extended jazz family: Dawn Tyler Watson, Joss Tellier, the Rewild Tango Orchestra, the Taxon Lazare Trio, Matt Herskowitz, Mathieu Désy and Contrebasse & marées, as well as several guest artists.

Created in 2021-22 in the context of social distancing, the 8 films of the Captures d’audace series surprised by shattering the fourth wall of the stage space. In 2023, the tandem redoubled their ingenuity to bring the artists back on stage by revitalizing the creative dynamic of the marriage of image and sound while offering a screen to the films they made with them. The film shows extend the adventure by encouraging interaction with the audience, placing the spectators at the heart of the performance and even influencing its course.

Starting January 30 at 8 p.m. at the Lion d’or in Montreal, during the show Une douceur en janvier, ¾ poetry, Joss Tellier, guitarist, composer and griot of Homa, will set his poetry of everyday life to music, narrated by musician and actor Charles Papasoff and performed by a group of virtuosos with a lyrical sensibility. From a selection of Capsules d’audace filmed by Marie-Hélène Panisset, will dress up the evening with video projections. It will also be the occasion to launch the soundtrack of the film FÉE which is at the origin of the show. Harmonica player Lévy Bourbonnais, singer Sonia Johnson, bassist Morgan Moore and drummer Kevin Warren will complete the set.

Throughout 2023, the shows 100% Ocytocine, 20 seconds, Shake, Quien toca, baila and tides, all evocative titles inviting to enjoy a moment as convivial as virtuoso, the artists virtuoso, the artists appearing sometimes on the stage and sometimes on the screen in an organic back and forth that always which always brings back to the human.
