Following his phenomenal success at the FMA’s 20th anniversary celebration, the acclaimed master of malouf returns to Montréal to present the most beloved Arab-Andalusian repertoire from Constantine, Algeria. Descended from a long line of Andalusian music stars, Adlen Fergani grew up in a family where music was an integral part of everyday life. Over time, he developed proficiency in multiple instruments, including percussion, mandolin, the oud and the violin. The recipient of numerous awards, he has followed in the footsteps of his forebears, devoting himself to the preservation of Constantine’s musical heritage. Accompanied by an ensemble of seasoned musicians, Adlen Fergani will take you back in time to the glory of ancient Andalusia through his gentle lyricism, refined style, and improvised, pulse-pounding melodies that sparkle with irresistible spirit. A virtuosic performer, this Prince of Malouf enchants audiences with his powerful, haunting voice, which has earned him a devout following among fans of the genre. Grandson of the great El Hadj Mohammad Tahar Fergani, and the son and nephew of key figures in contemporary malouf music, Adlen Fergani’s talent and lineage have cemented his status as the undisputed heir to this iconic musical genre from Constantine.
