Sylvie Paquette is an artisan operating in the Franco-American pop-folk-rock workshop, undeniably fêted by her peers, if insufficiently by the public at large. She thus took the gamble of setting to music poems by Anne Hébert, an understated literary giant. The prosody, the tremolos and the production, all perfect, make it a howling success, in its aesthetics as much as its spirit. So much so that it approaches the outright miraculous. That said, Paquette’s talent and sensitivity, and the support here of Yves Desrosiers and Philippe Brault, probably helped.
