Daho, the godfather of French pop, takes it to the limit on his tenth studio album, supported by an impressive cast of comparably important figures: the amazing bassist Pino Palladino, contemporary godfather of session musicians, on “Le baiser du destin”; Nile Rodgers, godfather of family funk, on the tasty “Les torrents défendus”; Debbie Harry, godmother of new wave, on “L’étrangère”; and Dominique A, godfather of new French chanson, on “En surface”. Add to that sumptuous strings and brass, and you have one of the greatest pop albums of the decade.
