Each melody of this Dutch duo refreshes the keystones of ’80s European darkwave with modern flair. A pulsating dialogue between past and present, the synthesizers throb and the plasticity of the drum-machine beats cradle catchy guitar lines. The ethereal, analog aesthetic, with its calculated nonchalance, on several pieces celebrates the existential convulsions that the coldwave once investigated, while other, more danceable tracks are built around the new beat and EBM identities.
