Otay:onii

Lane Shi Otay Onii, connue sous le nom de scène Otay:onii, est l’une des artistes les plus curieuses et inclassables de sa génération. Créatrice aux multiples facettes, son travail englobe la performance, la composition, l’installation et la musique d’avant-garde. Otay:onii est la toute première artiste sélectionnée pour la résidence triennale du festival Roadburn ; elle a également participé en tant que compositrice et interprète à « SANCTA », une production d’opéra révolutionnaire signée Florentina Holzinger, et s’est produite dans des festivals du monde entier tels que SXSW, Roadburn, CTM, Fusion, Creepy Teepy, LGW, Fekete Zaj et Full of Lava. Otay:onii a déjà été récompensée par de nombreux prix internationaux, notamment le prix de bronze de la « Meilleure chanteuse » aux Global Music Awards et le prix du « Meilleur son » aux Audiovisual Arts Industrial Incubator Awards.

Lane Shi Otay Onii, known professionally as Otay:onii, is one of the most inquisitive and genre-defying artists of her generation. A multifaceted creator whose work spans performance art, composition, installation, and avant-garde music practice. Otay:onii is the first ever artist selected for the three-year Triennium Residency at Roadburn, she was a contributing composer and performer in Florentina Holzinger’s groundbreaking opera production ‘SANCTA‘, and has performed at festivals world-wide such as SXSW, Roadburn Festival, CTM, Fusion, Creepy Teepy, LGW, Fekete Zaj, and Full of Lava. Otay:onii has already been celebrated with many awards worldwide, including the Global Music Awards ‘Bronze Prize for Best Female Vocalist‘ and ‘Best Sound’ at Audiovisual Arts Industrial Incubator Awards.

thisquietarmy est le projet musical d’Eric Quach, artiste montréalais actif depuis plus de vingt ans à la croisée du drone, de la musique expérimentale et de l’électronique. Auteur de nombreuses parutions sur des labels internationaux, le projet s’est produit dans plusieurs festivals, dont Le Guess Who?, Dunk!Festival, Amplifest, Mutek et le FIMAV, et collabore régulièrement avec des membres de Voivod, Godspeed You! Black Emperor et Nadja.

thisquietarmy is the musical project of Eric Quach, a Montreal-based artist who has been active for more than twenty years at the intersection of drone, experimental music, and electronics. With numerous releases on international labels, the project has performed at festivals such as Le Guess Who?, Dunk!Festival, Amplifest, Mutek, and FIMAV, and regularly collaborates with members of Voivod, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Nadja.

Mothrspace

Bruna Wanderley Gonçalves (Mothrspace) est une artiste multi-instrumentiste d’origine brésilienne, établie à Montréal. En tant que chanteuse et violoncelliste du groupe Kapitur, sa pratique consiste généralement à utiliser des sons traités pour créer des performances chargées d’émotion et de présence physique, explorant la tension, la texture, la transformation et cognition incarnée. Elle s’est produite au Dunk!Festival, au MUTEK et au Suoni per il Popolo, a enseigné les techniques vocales avancées au Fringe Festival d’Edmonton et a collaboré avec des artistes tels que Thisquietarmy, Kathy Kennedy et Anju Singh, entre autres. Forte d’une formation classique, façonnée par ses études auprès de la violoncelliste Isabelle Bozzini et par des pratiques incarnées avec Angélique Wilkie et Marie Claire Forté, elle aborde le violoncelle comme une extension du corps où l’expression sonore et la présence physique deviennent indissociables.

Bruna Wanderley Gonçalves (Mothrspace) is a multi-instrumental artist from Brazil, based in Montreal. As the voice and cello force behind Kapitur, her general practice involves using processed sounds to create emotionally and physically charged performances exploring tension, texture, transformation and embodiment. She has performed at Dunk!Festival, MUTEK, Suoni per il Popolo, taught extended vocal technique at Edmonton’s Fringe Festival, collaborated with artists such as Thisquietarmy, Kathy Kennedy, Anju Singh, among others. Grounded in classical performance, shaped by studies with cellist Isabelle Bozzini and by embodied practices with Angélique Wilkie and Marie Claire Forté, she approaches the cello as an extension of the body where sonic expression and physical presence become inseparable.

Mark Molnar

Mark Molnar est un compositeur et multi-instrumentiste canadien dont le travail couvre la composition contemporaine, l’improvisation libre et le son expérimental. Jouant des cordes, de l’électronique, de l’erhu et du rebab, il a cofondé ou contribué à d’innombrables projets au cours de trois décennies de création et d’organisation à Ottawa. Il a établi Kingdom Shore comme véhicule pour la tournée de ses compositions, et Black Bough Records comme plateforme pour lancer de la musique qui repousse les limites. Il a collaboré avec des artistes tels que Sam Shalabi, Craig Pedersen, Sandro Perri, Peter Zummo, Phil Minton, Satoko Fuji, Tetuzi Akiyama, Naoto Yamagishi, Akira Sakata et Keiji Haino. Il a joué un rôle central ou récurrent dans des groupes tels que Land of Kush, Black Seas Ensemble, Seppuku, Gamelan Semara Winangun, 1/4 Tonne Overhaul et Horseman, Pass By.

Mark Molnar is a Canadian composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans contemporary composition, free improvisation, and experimental sound. Performing on strings, electronics, erhu, and rebab, he has co-founded or contributed to countless projects across three decades of creating and curating in Ottawa. He established Kingdom Shore as a vehicle for touring his compositions and Black Bough Records as a platform for releasing boundary-pushing music. His collaborators have included artists like Sam Shalabi, Craig Pedersen, Sandro Perri, Peter Zummo, Phil Minton, Satoko Fuji, Tetuzi Akiyama, Naoto Yamagishi, Akira Sakata, and Keiji Haino. He has played a central or recurring role in bands like Land Of Kush, Black Seas Ensemble, Seppuku, Gamelan Semara Winangun, 1/4 Tonne Overhaul and Horseman, Pass By.

Rosalie Chretien et Fumerolles

Frédérique Duval (Fumerolles) et Rosalie Chretien unissent leurs pratiques dans des performances immersives où se rencontrent électronique ambient, percussions, paysages sonores organiques et voix. À travers un dialogue entre machines artisanales, synthétiseurs, effets et percussions, la voix de Rosalie insuffle une présence sensible qui traverse leurs explorations de la répétition, de la déconstruction et du pouvoir évocateur du son.

Artists Frédérique Duval (Fumerolles) and Rosalie Chretien collaborate to create immersive performances where ambient electronics, organic soundscapes, percussion, and voice converge into intimate sonic landscapes. Blending DIY machines, synthesizers, effects, and tactile percussion with Rosalie’s ethereal vocals that channel raw emotional expression, they explore repetition, deconstruction, and the transformative power of sound.
