Place des Festivals - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Rei’s live performances are an electrifying experience. Whether headlining the main stage at WOMAD or Splore, closing the International Indigenous Music Summit in Toronto, or performing at WOMEX in Europe, he brings infectious energy and a deep connection with his audience. His uplifting, multi-genre sound gets crowds moving while celebrating Māori culture, leaving audiences feeling empowered and inspired. Featuring live kapa haka (traditional Māori performing arts), taonga pūoro (traditional Māori instruments), lyrics in te reo Māori, and striking Māori visual elements, Rei’s performances offer a truly unique experience on the global music stage. Of Ngāti Raukawa and Ngāti Pākehā descent, Rei blends world music with electronic, hip-hop, pop, and dance influences to create a sound that is unmistakably his own. With more than 15 million Spotify streams, seven Waiata Māori Awards, and five New Zealand Music Award nominations, he has established himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary Indigenous music. Beyond performing, Rei and his team regularly take part in panels and workshops exploring the creation of music rooted in Indigenous culture at international events such as SXSW Sydney, Going Global, WOMAD, WOMEX, and the Toitū Language Festival in Aotearoa New Zealand. Last year, Rei expanded his international reach with the release of Still Here, a collaboration with Indigenous Canadian rapper Drezus and Indigenous Australian artist DRMNGNOW. In February 2026, he also released Ancestor NRG with Vancouver-based Handsome Tiger. The track received airplay on SiriusXM and accumulated hundreds of thousands of views across social media.
