Dans la Symphonie n° 25, le jeune Mozart éclate dans un Sturm und Drang fougueux avec une intensité dramatique que son époque n’attendait pas d’un garçon de dix-sept ans. Des décennies plus tard, la Symphonie n° 40 reprend la même tonalité mais l’habille d’une maturité vertigineuse : équilibre souverain, tension intérieure, pureté tragique. Une vie entière sépare ces deux œuvres, comme si Mozart se répondait à lui-même à travers le temps.
