La talentueuse Fabiana Cozza est considérée comme une des chanteuses les plus fascinantes et charismatique de la musique afro-brésilienne. Sa musique sensuelle et évocatrice est mise en valeur par sa voix puissante et profonde. De retour à Montréal pour une soirée exclusive, l’artiste brésilienne, toujours avide de renouer avec ses racines africaines, invite Zal Sissokho avec qui elle a eu l’occasion de partager la scène au Brésil. Ce griot mandingue, joueur de kora, conjugue à merveille son ouverture sur le monde et sa volonté de préserver sa culture et les traditions orales des peuples d’Afrique de l’Ouest à travers ses compositions.

The talented Fabiana Cozza is considered to be one of the most fascinating and charismatic Afro-Brazilian vocalists. Her sensual and evocative music is accentuated by her deep and powerful voice. Returning to Montreal for an exclusive evening performance and, as always, excited to reconnect with her African roots, Cossa has invited Zal Sissokho, with whom she had the pleasure of sharing the stage in her native Brazil. Through his music, Sissokho—a Mandinka Griot and kora player—wonderfully combines his openness to the world with his desire to preserve his culture and the oral traditions of West Africa’s peoples.

United on stage by their love of Africa’s musical heritage and eager to honour its music, this musical encounter, in the cozy ambiance of the legendary Club Balattou, is an ode to the music.

Lasso Sanou, originaire du Burkina Faso, multi-instrumentiste, est passionné par la flûte peule, en plus d’être un talentueux percussionniste et joueur de kamélé n’goni. En trio, il met de l’avant son propre style appelé FRAMM (Fusion Reggae Afro Mandingue Métissé) dans chacun de ses spectacles.

Lasso Sanou, originally from Burkina Faso, is a multi-instrumentalist with a passion for the Peul flute, as well as a talented percussionist and kamele n’goni player. As a trio, he puts forward his own style called FRAMM (Fusion Reggae Afro Mandingue Métissé) in each of his shows.

Bumaranga’s music is an invitation to gently surrender yourself to their Afro-Columbian melodies, at times mellow, other times thrilling but always sublimely heartfelt. The group delivers cumbia, puya, tambora and malapé rhythms, putting the spotlight on traditional instruments that are amplified by drums and electronic instruments.

Juliet Nelson au Club Balattou

Dans les années 90, Juliet Nelson faisait partie de l’équipe du label jamaïcain de reggae / dancehall Penthouse Records, créé en 1987 par le légendaire producteur Donovan Germain et réputé pour avoir imposé un son moderne, puissant et très sophistiqué. À cette époque, elle a collaboré avec le célèbre Buju Banton. Le reggae de Juliet fait dans la douceur. Attisé par la voix suave de la chanteuse et bercé d’intonations Soul, il parle d’abord d’amour.

In the 90’s, Juliet Nelson was part of the team of the Jamaican reggae/dancehall label Penthouse Records, created in 1987 by the legendary producer Donovan Germain and known for imposing a modern, powerful and very sophisticated sound. At that time, she collaborated with the famous Buju Banton. Juliet’s reggae is a gentle one. Fueled by the singer’s smooth voice and lulled by Soul intonations, it speaks first of all of love.

Aboulaye Koné & Aboubakar Sidiki au Club Balattou

Aboulaye Koné, et son fils Aboubakar Sidiki, sont issus d’une famille de Griots ivoirienne (musiciens, historiens et conteurs d’Afrique de l’Ouest). Aboulaye apprend la musique au Burkina Faso auprès de Djeli Baba Kienou et accompagne au cours de sa carrière plusieurs vedettes africaines. Au Canada, il est considéré comme un musicien mandingue incontesté. Son premier album « Afo Gné » a été nominé aux JUNO Awards en 2012 dans la catégorie Meilleur Album Musique du Monde. Son fils Aboubakar est un multi-instrumentiste talentueux.

Aboulaye Koné, and his son Aboubakar Sidiki, come from a family of Ivorian Griots (musicians, historians and storytellers from West Africa). Aboulaye learned music in Burkina Faso from Djeli Baba Kienou and accompanied several African stars during his career. In Canada, he is considered an undisputed Mandingo musician. His first album « Afo Gné » was nominated at the JUNO Awards in 2012 in the category Best World Music Album. His son Aboubakar is a talented multi-instrumentalist.
