Julia Daigle, cofondatrice du groupe Paupière, découvre et apprend la composition en 2013 lorsque Pierre-Luc Bégin lui offre de déposer un de ses textes sur une de ses compositions. Une expérience qui mènera à la naissance de Jeunes Instants (2015), À jamais privé de réponse (2017), Jettatura (2018) et Sade Sati (2021).

Ayant pratiqué la danse classique et contemporaine durant son enfance, la performance lui vient naturellement. Sur son parcours artistique, elle rencontre le réalisateur Dominic Vanchensteing (Bernardino Femminielli, Jeff and the Holograms, Plaza Musique) avec qui elle s’engage dans une autre aventure en parallèle. Ensemble, ils créent un univers bucolique et élégant, qui évoque le groupe progressif québécois Contraction mais aussi Kate Bush, Serge Gainsbourg, Robert Wyatt s’inspirant d’une musique folklorique et médiévale. Ils allient une pop contemporaine et les échos d’une musique venue du fond des âges. De leur union naquit le EP Le coin plié (2021) et le somptueux album, Un singe sur l’épaule à paraitre en novembre 2021 sur Lisbon Lux Records.

Julia Daigle co-founder of the band Paupière, discovered and took up composing in 2013 when Pierre-Luc Bégin offered her to put her lyrics on one of their compositions. An experience that led to the creation of Jeunes Instants (2015), À jamais privé de réponse (2017), Jettatura (2018) and Sade Sati (2021).

Having practiced classical and contemporary dance during her childhood, performing comes naturally to Julia. Throughout her artistic journey she met the director Dominic Vanchensteing (Bernardino Femminielli, Jeff and the Holograms, Plaza Musique), with whom she engaged in a parallel adventure. Together they created a bucolic and elegant universe, which evokes a resemblance to the progressive Quebecois band Contraction, as well as medieval and folk inspirations from Kate Bush, Serge Gainsbourg, Robert Wyatt. They combined contemporary pop with the echoes of a music venue from the depths of time. From their union the EP Le coin plié was born along with the sumptuous album Un singe sur l’épaule being released in November 2021 via Lisbon Lux Records.

Batushka au Bar Le Ritz

Batushka (stylisé en cyrillique en БАТЮШКА) est un groupe de black metal polonais formé par Krzysztof Drabikowski. Leur musique et leurs paroles, écrites exclusivement en langue slave de la vieille église, sont inspirées par l’Église orthodoxe orientale. Les membres du groupe portent des habits et des schémas orthodoxes orientaux pendant les concerts pour dissimuler leur identité. Contrairement à de nombreux autres groupes de black metal, ils utilisent des guitares à huit cordes.

Batushka (stylized in Cyrillic as БАТЮШКА) is a Polish black metal band formed by Krzysztof Drabikowski. Their music and lyrics, which are written exclusively in Old Church Slavonic language, are inspired by the Eastern Orthodox Church. The band members wear habits and Eastern Orthodox schemas during live performances to conceal their identities. In contrast with many other black metal bands, they use eight-string guitars.

King Buffalo est le trio composé du vocaliste/guitariste Sean McVay, du bassiste Dan Reynolds et du batteur Scott Donaldson. Depuis sa formation en 2013, le groupe autoproclamé « heavy psych » s’est fait connaître via 4 EP, 4 Full-length, et des tournées avec des groupes comme Clutch, All Them Witches, Uncle Acid & the deadbeats, The Sword et Elder.

King Buffalo a sorti son cinquième full-length, Regenerator, le 2 septembre 2022. Composé et enregistré par le groupe, avec le mixage et l’ingénierie du guitariste/chanteur Sean McVay et le mastering de Bernie Matthews, cet album de sept chansons est le troisième de la « trilogie pandémique » de King Buffalo, après deux des meilleurs albums de 2021, The Burden of Restlessness et Acheron.

Mildlife s’empare de la toile musicale, arrache les couvercles des pots de peinture et lance de vibrantes taches de couleur dans des jams kaléidoscopiques. Les quatre membres du groupe se sont liés par le désir de repousser les limites musicales sur disque et ont développé des concerts serrés soutenus par des improvisations extravagantes.

Mildlife take the musical canvas, rip the lids off the paint tins, and throw vibrant slashes of colour into kaleidoscopic jams. The four-piece bonded over the desire to push musical boundaries on record, and developed a tight live shows bolstered by wild improvisation.

Billy Woods est un rappeur qui défie toute catégorisation facile ; il est né aux États-Unis mais a passé une grande partie de son enfance en Afrique et aux Antilles. Au micro, Woods n’est pas moins une énigme, il possède des flows polyvalents et une capacité non seulement à aborder des sujets dont d’autres artistes ne rêveraient pas, mais aussi à apporter des perspectives uniques aux sujets familiers.

Billy Woods is a rapper who defies easy categorization; he was born in the U.S. but spent much of his childhood in Africa and the West Indies. On the mic, woods is no less of a conundrum, possessed of versatile flows and an ability to not only tackle topics other artists wouldn’t dream of, but also to bring unique perspectives to the familiar ones.

Witch au Bar Le Ritz PDB

Le groupe Witch est né du mariage d’influences apparemment contradictoires. J Mascis, de la renommée de Dinosaur Jr., et son ami de longue date Dave Sweetapple étaient intéressés par la formation d’un groupe de hard rock. Ils ont trouvé des conspirateurs compétents et volontaires dans Kyle Thomas et Asa Irons, membres du groupe avant-folk Feathers de Nouvelle-Angleterre. Sur leur premier album éponyme, cette formation monte un puissant tumulte sonore qui rappelle le son heavy metal classique des groupes du début des années 70, tout en étant moderne dans son assaut (et sans tomber dans l’omniprésence du « Stoner Rock »).

The group Witch was born from a marriage of apparently contradictory influences. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. renown and his long time friend Dave Sweetapple were interested in forming a hard rock band. They found willing and able conspirators in Kyle Thomasand Asa Irons, members New England avant-folk outfit Feathers. On their eponymous debut album, this line-up mounts a mighty sonic tumult that harkens back to classic heavy metal sound of early 70’s outfits while still sounding modern in it’s assault (and without falling into the ubiquitous « Stoner Rock » pigeonhole).

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets au Bar Le Ritz PDB

Prenez la route de Perth via Leederville et continuez à rouler, et vous tomberez peut-être sur un vieux hangar à chevaux – un endroit où la bizarrerie règne en maître. De l’autre côté du pont, les fêtes font rage jusqu’au petit matin et même plus tard, tandis qu’au coin de la rue, un tas d’ordures très haut fait office de maison de fortune pour les rats locaux. C’est ici, parmi les jam-sessions qui durent plus de six heures, que le son farfelu et envahissant de Psychedelic Porn Crumpets est né. Les jam-sessions nocturnes et les logements non conventionnels de Psychedelic Porn Crumpets ne sont que la partie visible de leur iceberg d’accidents heureux.

Take the trail out of Perth via Leederville and keep on driving, and you might just stumble across an old horse shed –one where weirdness roams free. Across the bridge from said shed, house parties rage until the early hours and beyond, while around the corner there’s a sky-high pile of trash that acts as a makeshift home for the local rat population. It’s here, amongst jam sessions that would last six-hours plus, that the wacky, sprawling sound of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets was born. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ night-long jam sessions and unconventional abodes are just the tip of their iceberg of happy accidents.

Beacon, duo de Brooklyn, explore le côté obscur de la douce mélodie avec un son aussi séduisant que subtilement déconcertant. Thomas Mullarney III et Jacob Gossett se sont rencontrés au Pratt Institute, où ils étudiaient respectivement la sculpture et la peinture. En peu de temps, les deux hommes ont commencé à écrire des chansons qui fusionnent le flair du R&B avec les courants de la musique dance, en s’inspirant d’influences aussi disparates qu’Underworld, Jeff Buckley et le catalogue de Warp.

Brooklyn duo Beacon explore the dark side of sweet melody with a sound that’s as seductive as it is subtly discomfiting. Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett met at Pratt Institute, where they were studying sculpture and painting respectively. In short time the two began writing songs that fused the flair of R&B with undercurrents of dance music, drawing on influences as disparate as Underworld, Jeff Buckley, and Warp’s back catalog.

Pink Turns Blue au Bar Le Ritz PDB

Fondé à Cologne, en Allemagne, en 1985, le mélange de pop sombre et atmosphérique de Pink Turns Blue, influencé par les contemporains post-punk européens et la dissonance punk bourdonnante de Hüsker Dü (le nom du groupe provient de la chanson de Zen Arcade), s’est immédiatement inscrit dans un nouveau canon sonore qui a été à la base de l’émergence de la darkwave.

Founded in Cologne, Germany in 1985, Pink Turns Blue’s blend of atmospheric dark pop informed by European post-punk contemporaries and the buzzing punk dissonance of Hüsker Dü (the band is named after the Zen Arcade song) immediately tapped into a new canon of sound that was foundational to the emergence of darkwave.

Ambroise est le projet de chansons d’Eugénie Jobin, musicienne, compositrice et réalisatrice vivant et travaillant à Tio’tià:ke (Montréal). L’album « Bienvenue », paru en mars 2022, est dédié à la poète québécoise Geneviève Desrosiers.

Ambroise is the song project of Tio’tià:ke (Montréal)-based musician and composer Eugénie Jobin. Her second album « Bienvenue », released in march 2022, is dedicated to the poetry of Geneviève Desrosiers.

oui merci est un quintette d’indie-rock, errant entre les rues d’Hochelaga et le lit douillet de la rivière L’Assomption.

Au printemps 2021, le groupe participe aux demi-finales des Francouvertes, en plus de faire paraître son premier EP «chaque chose», un opus qui oscille entre la chanson folk lo-fi et l’énergie rock maximaliste.

Alexia Avina est une artiste expérimentale ambient-folk née et élevée en Asie du Sud-Est, auparavant basée à Montréal et vivant maintenant à New York. Son album le plus récent A Little Older a été publié par Lost Map (Royaume-Uni) et capture beaucoup de ce qui la rend si spéciale – boucles minimales, arythmiques et basées sur le tempo, crochets mélodiques éthérés, beauté, espace et retenue.

Alexia Avina is an experimental ambient-folk artist born and raised in Southeast Asia, previously based in Montreal and now living in NYC. Her most recent album A Little Older was released by Lost Map (UK) and captures much about what makes her so special – minimal, arrhythmic and tempo-based looping, ethereal melodic hooks, beauty, spaciousness and restraint.

His His est le projet musical de l’artiste Aidan Belo. Il a créé ce projet après avoir déménagé dans sa ferme familiale dans le but d’évoquer quelque chose de rural et d’honnête, en enregistrant entièrement sur cassette.

His His is the recording project of Toronto-based artist Aidan Belo. He created this project after relocating to his family’s hobby farm outside of the city in an attempt to evoke something rural and honest, recording entirely to tape in the empty spaces of an old wooden barn on the farm.

Loving est la collaboration musicale de David Parry, Lucas Henderson et Jesse Henderson. Après la sortie de leur premier EP, leur album «If i am only my thoughts» est enregistré dans un studio maison et représente une exploration plus profonde du processus créatif du groupe–un processus marqué par une appréciation des limites génératives de l’enregistrement sur bande. Loving is the musical collaboration of David Parry, Lucas Henderson and Jesse Henderson. Following in the path of their debut EP, If l am only my thoughts was home recorded and represents a deeper exploration of the band’s creative process – a process marked by an appreciation for the generative limitations of recording to tape. The resulting album constructs a warm and dreamy sonic landscape kept adrift by existentially oriented lyrics and an unspecified all-encompassing sense of nostalgia.

Auto décrit comme “la musique aux guitares pour ceux qui l’aime”, knitting fait usage des thèmes des émotions effiloché et de l’introspection, pour créer des chansons sincères et brut.

SOLAR FAKE est le groupe électro de Sven Friedrich, multi-instrumentiste et chanteur, également connu pour ses autres projets Zeraphine et Dreadful Shadows. Ses premières chansons ont été écrites en 2006, et en 2007, Sven a formé SOLAR FAKE, demandant à Frank de le rejoindre en tant que claviériste live. En 2008, ils ont sorti leur premier album, « Broken Grid ».

SOLAR FAKE is the electro act of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Sven Friedrich, also known for his other projects Zeraphine and Dreadful Shadows. The first songs were written in 2006, and in 2007 Sven formed SOLAR FAKE, asking Frank to join as live keyboardist. In 2008, they released their debut album, “Broken Grid”.
