Cécile McLorin Salvant est compositrice, chanteuse et artiste visuelle. Elle est une curatrice éclectique, qui déniche des chansons rarement enregistrées et oubliées, riches en récits, en dynamiques de pouvoir intéressantes, en rebondissements inattendus et en humour. La regrettée Jessye Norman décrivait Salvant comme « une voix unique soutenue par une intelligence et une musicalité accomplie, qui illuminent chaque note qu’elle chante ». Salvant s’est découvert une passion pour la narration et la recherche de liens entre le vaudeville, le blues, les traditions folkloriques du monde entier, le théâtre, le jazz et la musique baroque. Salvant a remporté le concours Thelonius Monk en 2010. Elle a reçu trois Grammy Awards consécutifs dans la catégorie « Meilleur album vocal de jazz » pour ses albums The Window, Dreams and Daggers et For One To Love, et a été nominée pour ce prix en 2014 pour son album WomanChild. En 2020, Salvant a reçu la bourse MacArthur et le prix Doris Duke Artist Award. Ghost Song, le premier album de Salvant chez Nonesuch Records, est sorti en mars 2022 et a été acclamé par la critique. Il a ensuite reçu deux nominations aux Grammy Awards. Le dernier opus de Salvant, Ogresse, est une fable musicale sous forme de cantate qui mélange les genres; folk, baroque, jazz et country. Salvant en a écrit l’histoire, les paroles et la musique. Il a été arrangé par Darcy James Argue pour un orchestre de treize musiciens multi-instrumentistes. Ogresse, à la fois biomythographie et hommage à l’œuvre Erzulie peinte par Gerard Fortune et à Sara Baartman, explore le fétichisme, la faim, la diaspora, les cycles d’appropriation, les mensonges, l’altérisation et l’écologie. Il est en cours d’adaptation pour devenir un long métrage d’animation, que Salvant réalisera.

Cécile McLorin Salvant, is a composer, singer, and visual artist. Salvant is an eclectic curator, unearthing rarely recorded, forgotten songs with strong narratives, interesting power dynamics, unexpected twists, and humor. The Late Jessye Norman described Salvant as “a unique voice supported by an intelligence and full-fledged musicality, which light up every note she sings.” Salvant has developed a passion for storytelling and finding the connections between vaudeville, blues, folk traditions from around the world, theater, jazz, and baroque music. Salvant won the Thelonius Monk competition in 2010. She has received Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album for three consecutive albums, The Window, Dreams and Daggers, and For One To Love, and was nominated for the award in 2014 for her album WomanChild. In 2020, Salvant received the MacArthur fellowship and the Doris Duke Artist Award. Ghost Song, Salvant’s debut for Nonesuch Records, was released in March 2022 to critical acclaim, and has gone on to receive two Grammy Nominations. Salvant’s latest work, Ogresse, is a musical fable in the form of a cantata that blends genres: folk, baroque, jazz, and country. Salvant wrote the story, lyrics, and music. It is arranged by Darcy James Argue for a thirteen-piece orchestra of multi-instrumentalists. Ogresse, both a biomythography and an homage to the Erzulie painted by Gerard Fortune and Sara Baartman, explores fetishism, hunger, diaspora, cycles of appropriation, lies, othering, and ecology. It is in development to become an animated feature-length film, which Salvant will direct.

Lauréat de 18 Grammy Awards, Béla Fleck — le plus grand virtuose du banjo au monde et un explorateur musical reconnu — sera sur la scène du Festival International de Jazz de Montréal en trio à l’été 2026. Il a à la fois étudié l’histoire complexe de son instrument à travers le monde et révélé toute l’étendue de ses possibilités. Depuis plus de 30 ans, il dirige Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, un quatuor révolutionnaire inspiré par le jazz, le funk, le bluegrass et bien plus encore. Il a écrit et interprété trois concertos pour banjo et a retracé les origines africaines de l’instrument dans le documentaire primé Throw Down Your Heart (2009). Parmi ses nombreux collaborateurs figurent Abigail Washburn, le quatuor à cordes Brooklyn Rider, Chris Thile, The Blind Boys of Alabama, McCoy Tyner, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer et Rakesh Chaurasia.

18-time Grammy winner Béla Fleck—the world’s premier banjo virtuoso and a celebrated musical adventurer—will be performing at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal as part of a trio in the summer of 2026. He has both explored his instrument’s complex global history and unlocked the breadth of its possibilities. For over 30 years, he has led Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, the groundbreaking quartet inspired by jazz, funk, bluegrass and beyond. He has written and performed three banjo concertos and traced the African origins of the banjo with the award-winning 2009 documentary Throw Down Your Heart. Collaborators include Abigail Washburn, the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet, Chris Thile, The Blind Boys of Alabama, McCoy Tyner, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia. Fleck returns to the Virginia Arts Festival with his latest project, featuring acclaimed harpist Edmar Castañeda and drummer Antonio Sanchez for an innovative and dynamic fusion of sounds.

Yolande Laroche est une artiste et productrice canadienne d’origine taïwanaise basée à Gatineau, au Québec. Yolande Laroche is a queer Canadian Taiwanese artist and producer based in Gatineau, Quebec. Through her eponymous solo project, she delivers a high-energy performance that melds electronic dance music with haunting pop melodies and raw dynamic vocals. Exploring themes of feminine rage and catharsis, Yolande brings a commanding presence to the stage while offering audiences a visceral and unapologetic experience. A familiar face in projects such as Pony Girl, Orchidae and KAY-fayb, Yolande brings a unique perspective where experimentation, emotion, chaos and spontaneity fuel her captivating performances.

A RUPTURE A CANYON A BIRTH, le troisième album de Jane Inc., groupe de Toronto, pulse d’une énergie façonnée par la conscience insistante de sa propre mortalité. Written in the aftermath of a car accident, a vocal cord cancer diagnosis, and a breakup, it presents a journey of fragility, mortality, chance, clarity through collapse, and the erotic energy that can come in moments of deep stabilization. The more esoteric art-pop of Jane Inc. records past—2021’s Number One and 2022’s Faster Than I Can Take—has given itself over to a beat-forward, ‘80s disco shimmer because it had to: Bezic’s only way through this was across the surface of a dancefloor and a stage. L’artiste canadienne Amery Sandford a commencé à publier sous le nom d’Alpen Glow en 2020, après plusieurs années passées dans des groupes punk à Terre-Neuve et en tant que moitié du duo pop montréalais Born At Midnite (Arbutus). Son premier album chez Night School Records, Continue As Amery, est un véritable concentré de joie de vivre mélodique, produit par les talents montréalais David Carrière (TOPS, Marci, Born At Midnite), Patrick Holland et Kristian North. Sandford y met en avant ses racines punk et DIY à travers huit parfaites odes pop à la vie urbaine, aux erreurs commises et à l’apprentissage en cours de route. Imprégné d’images puissantes et d’un talent presque étonnant pour créer des refrains pleins d’humour et de vitalité, son univers sonore puise dans l’amitié, les fêtes épiques, l’expérience et son métier de jour d’illustratrice et artiste visuelle reconnue. Ayant débuté Alpen Glow dans un esprit de plaisir et abandonnant désormais cet alias, Amery est prête à électriser la nuit.

Le guitariste et chanteur a également été salué par le Boston Globe pour avoir « redonné vie au Great American Songbook et remis le jazz au goût du jour ». En plus d’être chef d’orchestre et artiste solo, Pizzarelli a été invité spécial sur des enregistrements de grands noms de la pop tels que Natalie Cole, Kristin Chenoweth, Tom Wopat, Rickie Lee Jones et Dave Van Ronk, ainsi que d’artistes de jazz de premier plan tels que Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Johnny Frigo, Buddy DeFranco, Harry Allen et, bien sûr, son père Bucky Pizzarelli. Their Master’s Voice est un spectacle impressionnant et inclassable mettant en vedette une véritable légende, l’acteur John Malkovich. Dans cette œuvre d’envergure internationale qui se déroule en 1725, il est accompagné sur scène de deux chanteurs d’opéra, d’une actrice, de musiciens baroques et d’un chœur de 12 voix. John Malkovich, reconnu mondialement pour sa personnalité et sa voix singulières, y incarne le célèbre Nicola Porpora, compositeur de 40 opéras et maître de chant des deux castrats les plus éblouissants de leur époque, Farinelli et Caffarelli. Brutalement confronté à leur ego, Porpora explore avec eux les limites de la création : ce que l’art permet de dire ou de ne pas dire, de faire ou de ne pas faire. Les personnages oscillent dangereusement entre ces deux pôles, au seuil de la provocation. Ce rôle sied à merveille à John Malkovich, artiste iconoclaste ayant tourné dans plus de 70 films, dont Dangerous Liaisons où il incarnait l’inoubliable Valmont et Being John Malkovich, où il jouait une version satyrique de lui-même. Toujours à l’affût de projets audacieux, il se retrouve aujourd’hui dans Their Master’s Voice, une proposition originale où se mêlent des réparties brillantes, des costumes flamboyants et les plus grands airs des castrats de l’ère baroque. Commandé par l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Their Master’s Voice a été créé en 2024 à Vienne et a triomphé entre autres à l’Opéra royal de Versailles à Paris. Il est présenté au Québec dans le cadre d’une tournée mondiale. Le spectacle est une création de Michael Sturminger, metteur en scène dont la passion est de tendre de nouveaux ponts entre la musique classique et le théâtre contemporain. Complices dans cette fine recherche artistique, Sturminger et Malkovich avaient déjà collaboré ensemble par le passé, notamment dans le film Casanova Variations en 2014. Their Master’s Voice, un spectacle évènement comme il en existe très peu, s’avère une brillante fusion entre l’opéra baroque et une théâtralité pleine d’esprit, en plus de ravir ceux qui ont toujours rêvé de voir l’immense John Malkovich sur scène.

Their Master’s Voice is an impressive and unclassifiable show starring a true legend, actor John Malkovich. In this international production set in 1725, he is joined on stage by two opera singers, an actress, baroque musicians, and a 12-voice choir. John Malkovich, known worldwide for his unique personality and voice, plays the famous Nicola Porpora, composer of 40 operas and singing teacher to the two most dazzling castrati of their time, Farinelli and Caffarelli. Brutally confronted with their egos, Porpora explores with them the limits of creation: what art allows us to say or not to say, to do or not to do. The characters oscillate dangerously between these two poles, on the verge of provocation. Commissioned by the Monte Carlo Opera, Their Master’s Voice premiered in 2024 in Vienna and was a triumph at the Royal Opera of Versailles in Paris, among other venues. It is being presented in Quebec as part of a world tour. The show is the brainchild of Michael Sturminger, a director whose passion is to build new bridges between classical music and contemporary theater. Sturminger and Malkovich, who share a keen artistic vision, have collaborated in the past, notably on the 2014 film Casanova Variations. Disco Fever Expérience rend hommage au Lime Light discothèque de Montréal… c’est un rendez-vous! La discothèque la plus populaire de Montréal et de tout le Québec a été fondée par Yvon Lafrance le 7 septembre 1973. Claude Chalifoux est devenu son associé propriétaire en février 1977. Les systèmes de son, les nombreux effets lumineux et, évidemment, le choix musical, auxquels s’ajoutent les nombreux spectacles internationaux — dont James Brown, Gloria Gaynor, The Trammps, Grace Jones, The Ritchie Family, Vince Montana (MFSB), Lime, Carol Jiani et France Joli — ont fait du Lime Light une discothèque emblématique de Montréal et du Québec, contribuant ainsi à établir la scène disco en Amérique du Nord. Feu Robert Ouimet DJ no 1 au Canada fût son Disquaire résident de 1975-1982.
