PinkPantheress at Beanfield

PinkPantheress is a London-based artist and producer with a wry and affable stream-of-consciousness lyrical style and a sample-heavy sound rooted in house, U.K. garage, and drum’n’bass as well as pop and alternative rock. Emerging in 2021, the self-described “new nostalgic” artist became a social media star when her truncated and stylized singles “Passion,” “Pain,” and “Break It Off” became viral hits, garnering millions of streams. All three songs were included on her mixtape To Hell with It, which reached number 20 on the U.K. album chart and was met with widespread acclaim. In 2022, PinkPantheress released collaborations with artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Willow. She scored a major worldwide hit with 2023’s “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2” featuring Ice Spice, and continued releasing singles such as “Angel” (from the Barbie soundtrack) and “Mosquito.” Her much-anticipated debut album, Heaven Knows, arrived in November of 2023.

Through the extraordinary work of Sandeep Bhagwati, Quasar explores the relationship between nature, technology and contemporary music.

As part of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec’s Hommage à Sandeep Bhagwati series, Quasar presents Exercices d’Étrangeté III Mycorrhizia. For the duration of the concert, the audience is transported into the singular universe of the internationally-renowned composer, who blends nature with new technologies in a work inspired by communication between trees. On stage, a luminous device representing the root network will react to the sounds produced by the saxophones, for a unique sensory experience.

À travers l’œuvre hors du commun de Sandeep Bhagwati, Quasar explore la relation entre la nature, la technologie et la musique actuelle.

À l’occasion de la série Hommage à Sandeep Bhagwati de la Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, Quasar présente Exercices d’Étrangeté III Mycorrhizia. Le temps d’un concert, le public est transporté dans l’univers singulier du compositeur de renommée internationale, qui marie la nature aux nouvelles technologies avec une œuvre inspirée de la communication entre les arbres. Sur scène, un dispositif lumineux représentant le réseau racinaire réagira aux sons produits par les saxophones, pour une expérience sensorielle unique.

Nicola Ciccone at the Ministère

J’t’ai trouvée, j’te garde is the new French-language project from songwriter Nicola Ciccone. It will be launched on Thursday, March 28. The new album of original songs will be Ciccone’s fifteenth, marking 25 years in the music business. Ciccone has touched the hearts of Quebec audiences, selling hundreds of thousands of albums, scoring some thirty radio hits and winning several Félix awards over the past twenty-five years.

J’t’ai trouvée, j’te garde est le nouveau projet en français de l’auteur-compositeur Nicola Ciccone. Il sera lancé le jeudi 28 mars. Le nouvel album de chansons originales sera son quinzième et soulignera les 25 ans de carrière du fabricant de chansons. Rappelons que cet artiste a su toucher le cœur du public québécois, vendant plusieurs centaines de milliers d’albums, obtenant une trentaine de succès radio et gagnant plusieurs Félix au cours des vingt-cinq dernières années.

Em Beihold’s uplifting keyboard pop combines a warm, slightly smoky delivery with spacious arrangements, concise melodic hooks, and good-natured attempts to navigate early adulthood. After emerging in the late 2010s with a pair of social-media sensations, “City of Angels” and “Groundhog Day,” she landed in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 with her major-label debut, 2022’s “Numb Little Bug,” from her Egg in the Backseat EP. “Until I Found You,” a collaboration with Stephen Sanchez, charted in Norway later the same year.

Semaine du Neuf: L’être contre le vent

A concert to mark the end of the residency of German composer Matthias Krüger, this event is an opportunity to discover his work and rediscover the instrument considered to be the world’s oldest synthesizer, the organ. L’être contre le vent is an improvisational work for computer-controlled organ and real-time electroacoustic processing. Accompanied by organist Adrian Foster, he invites us to explore the essence of music itself: time and space.

Matthias Krüger is a contemporary music composer based between Paris and Hamburg. He is the recipient of a residency in new music (2023 – 2024) from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Groupe Le Vivier and the Goethe-Institut. This event is an opportunity to discover his work and artistic project.

Concert de sortie de résidence du compositeur allemand Matthias Krüger, ce rendez-vous est l’occasion de découvrir son travail et redécouvrir l’instrument considéré comme le plus ancien synthétiseur au monde, l’orgue. L’être contre le vent, est une œuvre improvisation composée pour orgue contrôlé par ordinateur et traitement électroacoustique en temps réel. C’est accompagné de l’organiste Adrian Foster qu’il invite à explorer l’essence de ce qu’est la musique en soi : le temps et l’espace.

Matthias Krüger est un compositeur de musique contemporaine basé entre Paris et Hambourg. Natalie Jane has risen to fame with a vibrant, confrontational brand of pop set in relationships gone wrong. Titled for the other woman, her visceral breakthrough hit “AVA” accumulated tens of the millions of streams after going viral on TikTok in 2022. She followed it up with more streaming hits about unreliable partners, including “Seven” and the 2023 post-breakup anthem “I’m Good” featuring Charlieonnafriday. Her debut album, Where Am I?, appeared in late 2023.

Rickson Makwe at Balattou

Ricky Rickson (Ricky Makwe Bazilepo), born on July 4, 1986 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is a polyglot singer/songwriter and keyboardist fluent in French, Swahili, Lingala, and English. At the age of ten, he lost his sight due to an injury during the war. Despite his challenges, his passion for music led him to move to South Africa, where he began his career touring with a band, performing at festivals, and recording. Now based in Winnipeg, Ricky is exploring his creativity with music influenced by reggae and rhumba. He seeks to move his audience while challenging stereotypes about the blind in the music industry.

Ricky Rickson (Ricky Makwe Bazilepo), né le 4 juillet 1986 en République démocratique du Congo, est un chanteur/auteur-compositeur et claviériste polyglotte parlant français, swahili, lingala et anglais. À l’âge de dix ans, il a perdu la vue d’une blessure pendant la guerre. Malgré ses difficultés, sa passion pour la musique l’a conduit à déménager en Afrique du Sud, où il a démarré sa carrière en tournant avec un groupe, jouant dans des festivals et enregistrant. Thirty-five years after the death of jazz pianist Bill Evans, the music he played or composed is reinterpreted by artists Michel Donato bass, Francois Bourassa piano, Frank Lozano saxophone and Pierre Tanguay drums.

These four outstanding musicians from the Montreal jazz scene draw from their collective experience and their love of Bill Evans’ music to pay tribute to one of the greatest pianists in jazz history.

Trente-cinq ans après la mort du pianiste de jazz Bill Evans, la musique qu’il a jouée ou composée est réinterprétée par les artistes Michel Donato à la basse, François Bourassa au piano, Frank Lozano au saxophone et Pierre Tanguay à la batterie.

Ces quatre musiciens exceptionnels de la scène jazz montréalaise puisent dans leur expérience collective et leur amour de la musique de Bill Evans pour rendre hommage à l’un des plus grands pianistes de l’histoire du jazz.

Mariah the Scientist at Beanfield

A unique presence in contemporary R&B, Mariah the Scientist offers highly personal narratives in a cinematic if relatable fashion with her gracefully burning vocals. Emerging in 2018 with an EP uploaded to SoundCloud, the Atlanta native quickly attracted major-label attention, and within a few years was behind a handful of RCA projects, namely Master (2019), Ry Ry World (2021), and the four-track Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission (2022). Mariah then moved to Epic with To Be Eaten Alive (2023) and immediately scored her first Billboard 200 entry, cracking the chart’s upper half with help from the measured slow jam “From a Woman.”

Présence unique dans le R&B contemporain, Mariah the Scientist propose des récits très personnels d’une manière cinématographique mais relatable avec sa voix gracieusement brûlante.
