Presented in December and April, the Ultrasound series is devoted to acousmatic and visual music, digital art, performance and algorithms. Under a dome of loudspeakers and in an immersive environment, you’ll be immersed in the fascinating worlds of students from the Faculty’s various composition and sound creation programs.

A real springboard, the Ultrasound evenings are the ideal opportunity to let yourself be surprised and to applaud the original creations of the next generation of multimedia artists.

Jean Jean Roosevelt is a born artist from the Grand-Anse region in southwest Haiti. His music draws on multi-ethnic influences, marked by a cultural melting pot that has existed on the island since the slave trade. Jean Jean Roosevelt combines Creole rhythms with reggae and Afrobeat influences. A socially committed artist with a rich repertoire tackling universal subjects, Jean Roosevelt is also a gold medallist at the 7th Jeux de la Francophonie Prix Tv5 Monde.

Jean Jean Roosevelt continues his career with his main motivation being to contribute to the reconstruction of his beloved Haiti and to the emergence of a more just and equitable world.

Originaire de la Grand-Anse, au sud-ouest d’Haïti, Jean Jean Roosevelt est un artiste né. Sa musique se nourrit d’influences multi-ethniques, marquées par un brassage culturel existant sur l’île depuis la traite négrière. Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ Conducted by Hervé Niquet

After his highly acclaimed first appearance at the Maison symphonique in 2019, French conductor Hervé Niquet is back with the OSM to direct Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ. With this monumental, three-part work for soloists, choir and orchestra, the composer further made his mark as a great dramatist, recounting the many episodes of a biblical saga, bringing each character to life with remarkable refinement, simplicity and intensity.

Très apprécié lors de son premier passage à la Maison symphonique en 2019, le chef français Hervé Niquet retrouvera l’OSM pour diriger L’enfance du Christ de Berlioz. Avec cette œuvre monumentale en trois parties pour solistes, chœur et orchestre, le compositeur s’affirme comme un grand dramaturge. Il narre les divers épisodes de cette fresque biblique avec une délicatesse, une simplicité et une intensité remarquables qui donnent vie à chaque personnage.

Beartooth is an American hardcore punk band formed by Caleb Shomo in Columbus, in 2012. The band has been signed to Red Bull Records since 2013. Their debut EP, Sick, was released on July 26, 2013, followed by their debut album, Disgusting, on June 10, 2014. Their second album, Aggressive, was released on June 3, 2016, their third album Disease on September 28, 2018, and their fourth album Below on June 25, 2021.

Arion Orchestre Baroque – Aci, Galatea e Polifemo

Taking a brief summer respite from his busy Roman sojourn, Handel travelled further south to Naples from May to July 1708, where he was commissioned to write Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, a serenata for the wedding of Duke d’Alvito and Beatrice di Sanseverino. A small, intimate opera for three voices and orchestra without chorus, the work is distinguished by the variety of its instrumental accompaniment, which includes oboes, recorders and trumpets in addition to strings and basso continuo. The sung arias and recitatives are not to be outdone, taking us from the most languorous sighs to the most extreme virtuosity. We welcome for the first time the award-winning Italian conductor and harpsichordist Francesco Corti, principal guest conductor of the orchestra il Pomo d’Oro.

Prenant un bref répit estival de son séjour romain fort occupé, Handel se rend plus au sud à Naples de mai à juillet 1708, où on lui avait commandé Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, une serenata pour les noces du duc d’Alvito et de Beatrice di Sanseverino. S’agissant d’un petit opéra intime, à trois voix et orchestre sans chœur, l’œuvre se distingue par la variété de son accompagnement instrumental où l’on retrouve, outre les cordes et la basse continue, hautbois, flûtes à bec et trompettes. Les airs et récitatifs chantés ne sont pas en reste, nous menant des soupirs les plus langoureux à la virtuosité la plus extrême. Nous accueillons pour la première fois le chef et claveciniste italien primé Francesco Corti, chef invité principal de l’orchestre il Pomo d’Oro.

Rafael Payare Conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 7

Admired for the intensity of her playing, violinist Simone Lamsma joins the OSM to perform Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1. Inspired by the Polish poem “May Night”, the piece is bathed in a contemplative atmosphere. Mahler’s Seventh Symphony also establishes a nocturnal climate, until its resolution in a luminous finale. This astonishingly modern work bears witness to the composer’s innovative imagination.

Admirée pour l’intensité de son jeu, la violoniste Simone Lamsma se joindra à l’OSM afin d’interpréter le Concerto pour violon no 1 de Szymanowski. S’inspirant du poème polonais « La nuit de mai », la pièce baigne dans une atmosphère contemplative. Un climat nocturne s’instaure également dans la Septième Symphonie de Mahler jusqu’à sa résolution dans un lumineux finale. Cette œuvre d’une étonnante modernité témoigne de l’imagination innovante du compositeur.
