Eli Brown has rapidly established himself as an artist of real distinction in the house world, with his records making an immediate impact upon a flurry of the industry’s biggest names. Having grown up in Bristol, Eli Brown was exposed to a rich array of different musical influences from Jungle to Rave music, form Drum n’ Bass to House. Bristol’s musical heritage has helped define Eli Brown’s sound in an overcrowded House Music scene where he stands out from the rest. His talents have garnered key support from every corner of the dance music spectrum, with the likes of Carl Cox, Green Velvet, Fisher, Claude VonStroke, Black Madonna, Denis Sulta, Calvin Harris & Annie Mac, all endorsing the Bristolian’s productions.

Adiouza at Balattou

The original ADIOUZA, in civilian name Adji Kane Diallo, is a Senegalese artist born in Dakar. At the age of 15, she took her first steps on stage alongside her older brother Cheikh Lo ouza Diallo (a pianist, singer and backing vocalist). It was he who introduced her to music, after she had caught the bug from her father Ousmane Diallo, known as Ouza, who remained a very popular singer because of his strong political commitment.Adiouza made her debut in the world music scene on the Paris stages, where she embraced a career with multiple influences, while remaining very attached to African sounds and rhythms. Her father passed on to her his passion for Senegalese music. Her mother, of Malian origin, introduced her to the great classics of griots and Mandingo artists.

While studying ethnomusicology and music theory (piano, drums and guitar) at Paris 8, she released her first album, “Maadou”, in 2009, a mbalax-beat opus tinged with jazz, soul and RnB. This was followed by a second album in 2013, entitled ‘Lima Doon’, and several singles, the latest of which, ‘Madame Bonheur’, released in November 2020, has racked up over 16 million views on YouTube. In 2022 she released her eponymous single MR Bonheur.

In 2010, she received two awards: Best Newcomer and Best Female Artist at the Sunu Awards.

Her singles Ma la Nob and Daddy were also nominated for the Burkina Faso Kunde and several Afrima awards.

With her beautiful voice, Adiouza is an atypical singer with a melody tinged with sounds that blend traditional African music with pop.

L’originale ADIOUZA, Adji Kane Diallo au civil, est une artiste sénégalaise née à Dakar. À l’âge de 15 ans, elle fait ses premiers pas sur scène aux côtés de son grand frère Cheikh Lo ouza Diallo (pianiste choriste et chanteur). C’est lui qui l’initie à la musique, après qu’elle ait attrapé le virus de son père Ousmane Diallo dit Ouza, restait un chanteur très populaire du fait de son fort engagement politique. Adiouza a fait ses débuts dans le milieu de la World Musique sur les scènes parisiennes où elle embrasse une carrière aux influences multiples, tout en restant très attachée aux sonorités et rythmes africains. Son père lui transmet sa passion pour la musique sénégalaise. Sa mère d’origine malienne, lui fait écouter les grands classiques des griots et artistes mandingues.

Parallèlement à ses études d’ethnomusicologie et de solfège (piano, batterie, guitare) à Paris 8, elle sort, en son année de Maîtrise en 2009, son premier album « Maadou », un opus au beat mbalax teinté de jazz, de soul et de RnB. S’ensuivent un deuxième album en 2013 intitulé « Lima Doon » et plusieurs singles dont le dernier sorti en novembre 2020 « Madame Bonheur » a atteint plus de 16 millions de vues sur YouTube. En 2022 elle nous sort son single éponyme MR Bonheur.

En 2010, elle reçoit deux distinctions : révélation et meilleure artiste féminin au Sunu Awards.

Elle est nominée au kunde Burkina Faso et plusieurs fois aux Afrima avec ses singles Ma la Nob et Daddy.

Adiouza avec sa belle voix est une chanteuse atypique avec une mélodie teintée de sonorités mélangeant la musique traditionnelle africaine à la pop.

You’ll see a dozen of the world’s most iconic Looney Tunes: What’s up, Doc? The Seville Bunny, Bunny the Conductor, Rendez-vous des mélomanes, Rhapsodie à quatre mains and many more, plus five never-before-seen animated shorts projected on the big screen. Their exhilarating original scores will be played live by the FILMharmonic Orchestra conducted by George Daugherty.

« Quoi de neuf, Doc? » Un mélange captivant de musique classique et d’animation classique! Bugs Bunny et ses amis de Looney Tunes se joignent à un public de tous âges à la Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier pour Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.

Nesraf at Balattou

“Nesraf” is a rhythmic and melodic movement in chaâbi and Andalusian music. The term means departure and refers to the people who have immigrated over the years. It is thanks to them that this heritage has been sung, shared and perpetuated in the four corners of the world.

The Nesraf group, made up of several musicians and singers, is the culmination of a decade of friendship and artistic collaboration. Together, they share a passion for Chaâbi music. The group had the opportunity to make its mark when it took part in the 24th edition of the Maghreb music festival (Nuits d’Afrique).

This style of music, whose precursor was none other than the illustrious El Hadj Mohamed El Anka, who popularized it in the early 30s, is the popular music of Algeria par excellence. It’s the music of the streets, cafés and ceremonies.

Whether in Algerian Arabic or Kabyle, the Nesraf group revisits chaâbi classics, adding a variety of arrangements and sonorities to each of their performances, offering us a musical promenade rich in rhythms and melodies.

Le « Nesraf » est un mouvement rythmique et mélodique dans la musique chaâbi et andalouse. Ce terme signifie le départ et fait référence aux personnes qui ont immigré au fil des ans. C’est grâce à elles que ce patrimoine a pu être chanté, partagé et perpétué dans les quatre coins du monde.

Le groupe Nesraf, composé de plusieurs musiciens et de chanteurs, est la concrétisation d’une dizaine d’année d’amitié et de collaborations artistiques. Ensemble, ils partagent une grande passion, celle de «la musique Chaâbi». Le groupe a eu l’occasion de se concrétiser lors de sa participation à la 24 ème édition du festival de musique du Maghreb (Nuits d’Afrique).

Ce style de musique dont le précurseur n’est autre que l’illustre El Hadj Mohamed El Anka qui l’avait popularisé au début des années 30 est la musique populaire algéroise par excellence. C’est la musique des rues, des cafés et des cérémonies.

Que ce soit en arabe algérien ou en kabyle, le groupe Nesraf revisite des classiques de la musique chaâbi, auxquels il rajoute des arrangements et des sonorités diverses, il nous propose ainsi, à chacune de leur prestation, une promenade musicale riche en rythmes et en mélodies.

There are many ways to describe Gab Paquet – “perfection made man” is just one example – but what you need to know is that this being of sensual excess and spiritual exaltation is first and foremost a bewitching herald with a divine gift for music, and that it’s in French chanson de variété that he finds a vehicle for his essential messages – a sultry kitsch that’s no guilty pleasure. What we also need to know is that the aforementioned aesthetic and sonic codes he employs are apt lures to draw the public into the dedicated aspect of his artistic approach: his pieces magnanimously offer several levels of understanding, with something for everyone – a laugh, a reflection, an in-depth study, an enlightenment – in ecstatic communion.

On décrit Gab Paquet de multiples façons – « perfection faite homme » n’est qu’un exemple parmi tant d’autres – mais ce qu’il faut savoir, c’est que cet être de démesure sensuelle et d’exaltation spirituelle est avant tout un héraut envoûtant augmenté d’un don divin pour la musique, et que c’est dans la chanson française de variété qu’il trouve un véhicule pour ses messages essentiels – un sulfureux kitsch qui n’a rien d’un plaisir coupable. Ce qu’on doit aussi savoir, c’est que ces susmentionnés codes esthétiques et sonores qu’il emploie sont d’avenants leurres pour attirer le public dans l’aspect dédié de sa démarche artistique : ses pièces offrent magnanimement plusieurs niveaux de compréhension, et chacun.e y trouve son compte – un rire, une réflexion, une étude approfondie, une illumination – dans une communion extatique.

Rafael Payare dirige la Turangalîla-Symphonie

Véritable hymne à la joie, à l’amour et à la vie, la saisissante Turangalîla-Symphonie foisonne de contrastes et de couleurs sonores captivantes. Le piano, très virtuose, et les ondes Martenot, aux sonorités mystérieuses, jouent un rôle prépondérant au sein de l’orchestre. Complice de l’OSM depuis de nombreuses années, Jean-Yves Thibaudet se joindra à l’Orchestre alors que Rafael Payare dirigera l’une des pages les plus impressionnantes de Messiaen.

A true hymn to joy, love and life, the arresting Turangalîla-Symphonie abounds in contrasts and vivid tonal colours. Here, a highly virtuosic piano part and the mysterious-sounding ondes Martenot play leading roles in the orchestra. A collaborator of the OSM for many years, Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins the Orchestra as Rafael Payare conducts one of Messiaen’s most powerful works.
