L’oeuvre de Kind, ses textes et ses chansons traitent de sujets portant sur la santé, la guérison, la nature, la spiritualité, la souffrance humaine et la science du Yoga sous sa forme classique afin de contribuer à élever la conscience humaine, aider à apaiser la souffrance, et la différencier de la douleur. Il trouve son inspiration chez plusieurs artistes aux styles variés, créant ainsi un unique mélange Reggae-Pop-Méditatif qui fera danser et penser, à la fois les plus jeunes et les plus expérimentés. Parmi les artistes l’ayant inspiré le plus se retrouvent: Vaughn Benjamin (Midnite, Akae Beka), Bob Marley and the Wailers, Pressure Busspipe, jah9, Paul MCartney et Chronixx.

Kind est accompagné de 6 des meilleurs musiciens de la relève à Montréal afin d’offrir au public une expérience qui lui permettra de voyager dans son univers et d’oublier ses soucis le temps du spectacle. Un public attentif saura trouver dans les textes de Kind de nombreux outils utiles afin de mieux gérer les douleurs physiques et mentales, les situations difficiles, et vivre de façon plus consciente.

Kind is an artist that sings and writes about health, healing, nature, spirituality, human struggles, and the science of classical Yoga in an effort to raise human consciousness and alleviate suffering. He finds his inspiration in a wide range of bands and blends styles to create a new kind of meditative-pop-reggae that will make both youth and elders vibe to the rhythm and reflect on the lyrics. Some artists that have inspired him a lot are Vaughn Benjamin (Midnite, Akae Beka), Bob Marley and The Wailers, Pressure Busspipe, Jah9, Paul McCartney, and Chronixx.

Kind will be accompanied by 6 of the most skillful musicians in Montréal to offer the crowd an experience that will carry them into his world, make them forget about their worries for the time of the show, and give them cues to live a more joyful, conscious life.

Golden K-ya & Friends au Club Balattou

Golden K-ya , de son vrai nom Jennifer Augustin , vit actuellement à Montréal. Elle est chanteuse ,peintre, poétesse, slameuse, actrice et comédienne. Elle a déjà sorti le single FLY en 2022  sous le label de Sonnyblack2000.

Golden K-ya a également participée comme chanteuse dans les comédies musicales Femmes reines des cœurs (théâtre Champagnat -Laval) sous la directrice du metteur en scène David Mezy ( février 2022) dans le cadre des semaines québécoises, et aussi artiste dans le théâtre musical Foukifoura du célèbre auteur Franketienne (Théâtre Jean-Eude-Mars 2022) et le spectacle Back to Scène présenté par la compagnie Comediens et Plus (Aout 2021). En octobre 2021 elle a participé au festival Mondokarnaval de Québec accompagné sur scène par le groupe KWALITI, vainqueur du Syli de bronze des Syli d’or de la Musique du Monde 2021, organisé par les Productions Nuits d’Afrique.

Golden K-ya, whose real name is Jennifer Augustin, currently lives in Montreal. She is a singer, painter, poet, slammer, actress and comedian. She has already released the single FLY in 2022 under the label of Sonnyblack2000.

Golden K-ya also participated as a singer in the musical Femmes reines des cœurs (Champagnat Theater -Laval) under the direction of director David Mezy (February 2022) as part of the Quebec weeks, and also artist in the musical theater Foukifoura of the famous author Franketienne (Jean-Eude Theater-March 2022) and the show Back to Scene presented by the company Comediens et Plus (August 2021). In October 2021 she participated in the Mondokarnaval festival in Quebec City accompanied on stage by the group KWALITI, winner of the Syli de bronze of the Syli d’or de la Musique du Monde 2021, organized by the Productions Nuits d’Afrique.

Moktar Gania & Gnawa Soul au Club Balattou

En digne héritier de la dynastie Gania qui a tant compté dans la culture du Maroc, Maâlem Moktar Gania d’Essaouira s’impose aujourd’hui comme un acteur essentiel de la musique Gnaoua.

Initié par ces piliers de la tradition Gnaouie que furent son père Boubker et son frère Mahmoud, le jeune Moktar s ‘est produit dans le monde entier avec la famille Gania, mais ensuite aussi avec Randy Weston, Bill Laswell, Pharoah Sanders, Carlos Santana et bien d’autres … 

La rencontre entre le Maâlem Moktar Gania (frère cadet de l’incontournable et regretté maître Mahmoud Gania) et le groupe Gnawa Soul a permis de créer à Essaouira un style novateur à la frontière de l’esprit Gnawa, des grandes mélodies orientales du Maghreb et des vibrations de la culture Ouest Africaine.

Moktar Gania et Gnawa Soul apparaissent comme les nouveaux ambassadeurs d’une musique reliant le Maghreb et l’Afrique de l’Ouest célébrant les noces du corps et de l’esprit qui délivrent l’âme, que ce soient à travers des balades dédiées à l’élémentaire cosmique ou des titres rythmiques issus de la transe spirituelle.
Leur album GNAWA SOUL est sorti en mai 2022 sous l’étiquette Disques Nuits d’Afrique, en collaboration avec Nomad Roots.

As a worthy heir of the Gania dynasty that has counted so much in the culture of Morocco, Maâlem Moktar Gania from Essaouira is today an essential actor of Gnaoua music.

Initiated by these pillars of the Gnaouie tradition that were his father Boubker and his brother Mahmoud, the young Moktar performed all over the world with the Gania family, but then also with Randy Weston, Bill Laswell, Pharoah Sanders, Carlos Santana and many others …

The meeting between Maâlem Moktar Gania (younger brother of the unavoidable and late master Mahmoud Gania) and the group Gnawa Soul has created in Essaouira an innovative style at the border of the Gnawa spirit, the great oriental melodies of the Maghreb and the vibrations of the West African culture.


Their album GNAWA SOUL was released in May 2022 under the label Disques Nuits d’Afrique, in collaboration with Nomad Roots.

Le Festival Nuits d’Afrique présente Les Frères Sissokho – Rythmes modernes du Sénégal

Un spectacle des Frères Sissokho, c’est une réunion de famille aux rythmes des percussions et de la kora. Un peu de Sabar par ci. Du Mbalax par là. On chante, on danse, on improvise sur fond de traditions transmises de génération en génération. On rit, on s’amuse. On sent presque l’odeur du Tiep fumant et le goût du jus de bissap. On se recueille parfois aussi. On apprécie les moments de pure beauté où opère la magie de la kora. Car les Frères Sissokho sont des griots. Et s’ils peuvent explorer la musique sous toutes ses coutures sans se perdre, c’est parce que leurs racines sont profondes et qu’ils ont l’intime conscience de devoir en préserver l’héritage.

The Sissokho Brothers in concert is like a family reunion of percussion instruments and the kora. Some sabar here, Mbalax over there, hip-hop, reggae, Afrobeat, it’s a party! Dancing, singing, improvising on the back of traditions handed down through the generations. Lots of laughter and good times—you can almost smell the steaming tiep and taste the bissap juice. And sometimes you just sit back and take in the pure magic of the kora. That’s because the Sissokho Brothers are griots. And if they are able to explore the music inside and out without getting lost, it’s because their roots run deep, giving them the profound sense of the traditions that must be preserved.

On ne peut parler de la scène montréalaise des musiques de tradition ouest-africaine sans évoquer Aboulaye Koné, un de ses représentants les plus prolifique et charismatique. Faisant honneur à sa destinée, le griot ivoirien sème les graines du baobab partout où il passe. Sans répit, il fait la promotion des traditions mandingues, de leurs profondes racines, de la richesse de leurs coutumes, de la sagesse de leurs enseignements. Toujours avec un véritable désir de rencontre, de connexion entre les cultures. As des percussions et de la guitare mandingue, récipiendaire de plusieurs prix et bourses, en version acoustique ou électrique, il met sa virtuosité au service de son impressionnant héritage musical.  

You can’t talk about Montreal’s West-African traditional music scene without mentioning one of its most prolific and charismatic ambassadors, Aboulaye Koné,. In honour of his birthright, the Ivorian griot scatters baobab seeds wherever his goes. He tirelessly shares with the world his Mandinka traditions, their deep roots, rich and colourful dress and, most importantly, the wisdom of their teachings, always in a sincere desire to reach out to others and connect through a diversity of cultures. Recipient of several awards and grants, this master of percussion and Mandinka guitar, acoustic and electric, devotes his virtuosity to his impressive musical heritage.

Nuits d’Afrique présente Dicko Fils

« J’essaie de faire un mélange tradi-moderne pour que notre musique soit écoutée et dansée ». L’intention de Dicko Fils n’est rien de moins que de promouvoir la musique Peulh partout dans le monde en la rendant accessible à tous les publics. Ce maître du ngoni, fait Chevalier de l’Ordre du mérite par le ministère burkinabè de la culture, a roulé sa bosse au Mali et en Côte d’ivoire, touchant au Reggae et aux rythmes Wassoulou et s’inspirant des plus grands comme Salif Keita, Oumou Sangaré et Ali Farka Touré, avant de revenir au pays et de prendre position pour la démocratisation de sa culture musicale, y adjoignant notamment des rythmes populaires tels que le coupé-décalé. Une approche qui lui a valu une ribambelle de prix en Afrique de l’Ouest.

“I try to do a mix of traditional and modern so that our music is easy to listen and dance to.” Dicko Fils wants nothing better than to spread Fulani music across the globe by making it accessible to all audiences. This master ngoni player, made Knight of the Order of Merit of Culture of Burkina Faso, found his musical bearings in Mali and the Ivory Coast, where he became interested in reggae and wassoulou rhythms andwas inspired by such greats as Salif Keita, Oumou Sangaré and Ali Farka Touré, before returning to his home country to champion the spread of its musical heritage, while incorporating popular dance rhythms like coupé-décalé, an approach that has earned him a string of West African awards.

Le Festival Nuits d’Afrique présente Delphine Mounkoro

Élégamment parée de boubous colorés, qui accentuent encore, comme si c’était nécessaire, l’impact de sa personnalité éclatante et la prestance de sa voix grave, puissante, solide, sûre, magistrale, Delphine Mounkoro en impose, occupant la scène avec brio. L’ancienne choriste de Cheick Tidiane Seck, originaire de Ségou, a été formée à l’Institut national des arts de Bamako. S’exécutant dans un style tradi-moderne d’origine Bwa, où les instruments contemporains côtoient joyeusement les instruments du terroir, et notamment le balafon, qui prend une place prépondérante, celle qu’on surnomme « la Diva du Bwatun » fait l’unanimité !

Elegantly clad in a colourful boubou that emphasizes her brilliant personality—as if that were at all necessary—and the impact of her deep, powerful, solid, confident, and masterful voice, Delphine Mounkoro takes command of the stage with style. Originally from Ségou, this former backing vocalist for Cheick TidianeSeck trained at the Institut National des Arts in Bamako. Delivering a Bwa-inspired Tradi-Modern style, where the sounds of modern instruments joyously mix with local traditional ones, such as the prominently featured balafon, she who is called the “Diva of Bwatun” is loved by all.

Aux accents Jazz, Hip-hop, Soul, avec de fortes références à l’Afrique, son récent album, Sandj, identifié dans la playlist de Couleurs tropicales, l’émission phare de RFI, est un hommage à l’émancipation sous toutes ses formes, un hymne à la liberté.

“She is one of the emerging artists of the increasingly contagious Afro-soul trend” (La Presse, 2016). Veeby’s voice, ever fluid, energetic and flamboyant, soars to the summits and then plunges, only to soar again, tirelessly. As tirelessly as the artist herself who, in her songs as in real life, passionately advocates for diversity and inclusion. A combination of jazz, hip-hop and soul with strong African overtones, her latest album, Sandj, is featured on the playlist of Couleurs Tropicales, a long-running RFI radio show dedicated to African music, where it is described as a hymn to freedom, a tribute to emancipation in all its forms.

Nuits d’Afrique présente Ndaka Yo Wiñi

Le folklore angolais, ses mythes et surtout sa musicalité, qui comme celle d’autres sonorités dites lointaines est campée dans une gamme pentatonique dont on retrouve la trace dans les musiques populaires afro-américaines, sont au cœur des rythmes essaimés par Ndaka Yo Wiñi, la « Voix du peuple » dans sa langue natale. Installé depuis peu en Amérique du Nord, le musicien, compositeur et chercheur culturel, en activité depuis une dizaine d’années, transcende somptueusement l’atmosphère Jazz, Blues, Reggae, Soul et Folk de ses morceaux en exaltant avec naturel l’universalité et l’influence des rythmes traditionnels Ovimbundu, Kwanhama, Kilapanga et Tchianda.

Angolan folklore, its myths and above all its musicality that, as with many so-called ancient cultures, is based on a pentatonic scale—traces of which can still be found in popular African-American music today—are at the heart of the rhythms shared by Ndaka Yo Wiñi, which means “the voice of the people” in his native language. Recently settled in North America and actively working as a singer, musician, composer and cultural researcher for a dozen years, Ndaka Yo Wiñi sumptuously transcends the spirit of jazz, blues, reggae, soul and folk in his music, bringing out the universality and influence of traditional Ovimbundu, Kwanhama, Kilapanga and Tchianda rhythms with natural ease.
