Dos Guitarras est un jeune duo formé en 2023 par Osvaldo Rabunal et Nicolas Martin, deux guitaristes unis par une passion commune pour les musiques d’Amérique latine. Leur répertoire, à la fois riche et vibrant, allie créativité contemporaine et inspirations des rythmes traditionnels du Sud du continent – candombe, tango, chacarera – principalement issus de l’Argentine, mais aussi du Brésil, du Venezuela et de l’Uruguay. Depuis leur formation, Dos Guitarras a conquis le public québécois avec plusieurs prestations remarquées à Bedford, Frelighsburg et Saint-Armand, ainsi qu’à Montréal, notamment à La Petite Marche, à l’Espace Amalgame, à l’école Vincent-d’Indy et à la Mairie de Montréal. À chacune de leurs apparitions, le duo séduit par sa sensibilité, sa virtuosité et la profondeur de son dialogue musical.
Né à Montréal en 2024, Zalam Kao est le fruit de la rencontre de cinq artistes aux influences aussi vastes qu’éclectiques. Reflet de la diversité culturelle de la ville, le groupe incarne une vision vivante et contemporaine des musiques du monde. Avant tout unis par l’amitié, Zalam Kao cultive l’art de la création collective. Le quintet réunit : Clovis Lamarre (Tchobis), producteur, mixeur et guitariste ; Antonio Dorsaint Manigat (Ogou Rayfé), chanteur et rappeur ; MoMo, multi-instrumentiste et chanteur issu du jazz ; Lucas Melo, guitariste, contrebassiste et parolier ; Edaï Larobina, auteur-compositeur-interprète et instrumentiste. Leur premier single, « Tout pour toi » (2024), s’impose comme un hymne lumineux et fédérateur. En octobre 2025, Zalam Kao dévoile son premier album, « Tou Lumin », une œuvre solaire où s’entrelacent jazz, funk, soul et world beat, affirmant la signature musicale audacieuse du groupe.

Immigrant du Pérou en tant que réfugié et ayant grandi dans la scène hip-hop et dansante de Montréal, MARISOL a pris le temps d’étudier ses idoles locaux et internationaux avant de s’emparer d’un clavier MIDI pour la première fois en 2017. Autodidacte, il a appris à produire et écrire ses propres chansons, développant une voix artistique unique. Sa musique est une fusion vibrante de percussions latines, d’échantillons de jazz des années 70, de sonorités hip-hop et de mélodies chantées en plusieurs langues. Cette richesse culturelle s’exprime à travers des grooves dansants et des atmosphères chaleureuses qui transcendent les genres. Il fait ses premiers pas sur la scène musicale sous le pseudonyme Guapo, avec le groupe de rap CLOUD N9NE. Depuis leur pause à la mi-2022, MARISOL a embrassé pleinement sa démarche solo, explorant les styles musicaux qui l’ont façonné, du R&B au reggaeton, en passant par l’afrobeats et la musique électronique. Artiste multidisciplinaire, il développe aujourd’hui un univers personnel à la fois intime, éclectique et profondément enraciné dans ses origines.

Inspiré par les battements du samba, maracatu, ijexá et d’autres rythmes afro-brésiliens, Tamboréal crée une signature sonore unique, une fusion entre la chaleur du Brésil et le pouls urbain du Québec. Le projet va au-delà de la musique : c’est une affirmation de communauté, d’appartenance et de joie collective. Le groupe s’est produit sur plusieurs grandes scènes et événements culturels de Montréal et du Québec, notamment au Festival Nuits d’Afrique devant plus de 5 000 personnes, au Festival Islande Fête, ainsi qu’au Festival de la Bière de Montréal. En 2025, Tamboréal a également été demi-finaliste du concours Sily d’Or, soulignant son originalité et sa présence marquante sur la scène musicale montréalaise. Plus qu’un groupe musical, le Tamboréal Samba Bloco est un mouvement culturel qui fait du rythme un geste d’union entre le Nord et le Sud, entre le passé et le présent, entre toutes les personnes qui trouvent dans la percussion un même cœur qui bat.

A Peruvian immigrant who arrived in Canada as a refugee and grew up within Montreal’s hip-hop and dance scenes, MARISOL took the time to study his local and international idols before touching a MIDI keyboard for the first time in 2017. Self-taught, he learned to produce and write his own songs, developing a distinctive artistic voice. His music is a vibrant fusion of Latin percussion, 1970s jazz samples, hip-hop textures, and melodies sung in multiple languages. This cultural richness shines through in his danceable grooves and warm atmospheres that transcend genres. He first made his mark on the local scene under the stage name Guapo, as part of the rap group CLOUD N9NE. Since the group’s hiatus in mid-2022, MARISOL has fully embraced his solo path, exploring the musical styles that shaped him — from R&B and reggaeton to afrobeats and electronic music. A multidisciplinary artist, he is now crafting a deeply personal universe that is at once intimate, eclectic, and firmly rooted in his origins.

Composed of musicians from diverse backgrounds, the group transforms sound into a space for connection and celebration, blending tradition, creativity, and contagious energy. Inspired by the beats of samba, maracatu, ijexá, and other Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Tamboréal has forged a unique sonic identity — a fusion of Brazilian warmth and Quebec’s urban pulse. But the project extends beyond music: it is an affirmation of community, belonging, and collective joy. The group has performed on major stages and at cultural events across Montreal and Quebec, including the Festival Nuits d’Afrique (before an audience of over 5,000), the Islande Fête Festival, and the Montreal Beer Festival. In 2025, Tamboréal was also a semi-finalist in the Syli d’Or competition, highlighting its originality and strong presence on Montreal’s music scene. More than a musical group, Tamboréal Samba Bloco is a cultural movement that turns rhythm into a gesture of unity — between North and South, past and present, and all those whose hearts beat together through percussion.

Alongside her solo work, Thaynara is a member of the group Tamboreal Samba Bloco, where she performs as both singer and percussionist. With the group, she took part in the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, a defining experience that deepened her connection to groove, collective energy, and improvisation. Her personal projects reflect this wealth of influences, blending ijexá, samba de coco, and traditional percussion with contemporary harmonies and a vocal style that is both powerful and sensitive. KANNFÒ est un collectif musical montréalais fondé par deux artistes d’origine haïtienne, RèN Darah et Ericka Julie. Tiré des mots créoles canne (racines) et fò (force), leur nom symbolise un ancrage caribéen à la fois profond et puissant. Leur musique fait dialoguer les rythmes traditionnels haïtiens – pétro, rara, konpa – avec les sonorités modernes, pour créer une expérience scénique vibrante où se rencontrent voix, percussions et mouvement. KANNFÒ is a Montreal-based musical collective founded by two Haitian artists, RèN Darah and Ericka Julie. The name, drawn from the Creole words canne (root) and fò (strength), symbolizes deep and vibrant Caribbean roots. Their music bridges traditional Haitian rhythms — pétro, rara, konpa — with contemporary sounds, creating a powerful stage experience where voice, percussion, and movement intertwine. Naïka Champaïgne est une artiste haïtienne et queer, multi-instrumentiste et multidisciplinaire, également actrice, modèle et entraîneuse professionnelle, née et élevée à Montréal (Tio’tia:ke). Son univers musical reflète la richesse de son identité et de ses influences, mêlant néo-soul, funk, folk, blues, rock et hip-hop. Passionnée de musique depuis son adolescence, elle a amorcé son parcours à l’école secondaire musicale, où elle a reçu une formation classique en clarinette et en saxophone avant de se tourner vers la composition et l’écriture de ses propres chansons. Peu après, elle fonde le duo Strange Froots avec Mags, développant un style singulier décrit comme de l’« alternative chill-soul ». Son univers riche et éclectique tisse des sonorités multiples à travers des textes poétiques et introspectifs. Après son premier album solo, Painted Imageries, qui explore la narration et l’imaginaire personnel, Naïka prépare la sortie de son deuxième opus, Purple N Blue, prévu pour 2025.
AZARA est un projet musical né à Montréal, ville-carrefour où les cultures se croisent et se réinventent. Naïka Champaïgne is a Haitian and queer multi-instrumentalist and multidisciplinary artist — also an actor, model, and professional trainer — born and raised in Montreal (Tio’tia:ke). Her musical universe reflects the richness of her identity and influences, blending neo-soul, funk, folk, blues, rock, and hip-hop. Passionate about music since her teenage years, she began her journey at a music-focused high school, where she received classical training in clarinet and saxophone before turning to songwriting and composition. Shortly after, she co-founded the duo Strange Froots with Mags, developing a distinctive style described as “alternative chill-soul.” Her eclectic sound weaves together diverse influences through poetic and introspective lyrics. Following her first solo album, Painted Imageries—an exploration of storytelling and personal imagination—Naïka is preparing the release of her second project, Purple N Blue, expected in 2025.
AZARA is a musical project born in Montreal, a crossroads city where cultures meet and reinvent themselves. Driven by an Andalusian soul and the creative energy of Montreal’s vibrant music scene, the group fuses the traditions of southern Spain with Latin American rhythms and the spirit of contemporary jazz. Formé en 2021 dans la région d’Ottawa-Gatineau, Rooty Naky and the Rootables est un groupe aux sonorités métissées, puisant dans le reggae, la neo soul, l’afrobeats et diverses influences africaines. Mené par Rooty Naky (chanteur et guitariste), le collectif réunit Queen Abi, Howie, Jerry, King David, Chris Leblanc, Blaise et Marco, unis par une même énergie et une vision musicale tournée vers la paix, l’amour et la justice. Depuis leurs débuts, ils se produisent sur de nombreuses scènes locales, notamment au festival de la rue Eddy et à l’Afrofest en 2024, puis au Kichesippi Festival et à l’Afrofest Ottawa en 2025. Leur premier single, SEÏKO, a marqué un tournant, remportant l’adhésion du public. Multilingues, ils chantent en français, anglais et dans plusieurs langues africaines, créant un pont entre cultures et générations. MHN | Senny and Zal, A Bond That Only Art Can Create

They had never met before this first trip to Montreal. Yet, during Friday night’s musical dialogue in the kora language, Senny Camara and Zal Sissokho seemed to have known each other for years. This rapport, tinged with respect—Senny used the term “Master” when addressing Zal—demonstrated the mutual admiration between the two artists. They exchanged smiles from time to time, whispering words in Wolof between songs, like a father advising his daughter.

Despite the snowstorm outside, time seemed to stand still inside Club Balattou, creating a feeling of floating. This contrast made us savor the present moment even more, knowing what awaited us outside.

Let’s start with their outfits: Zal, all in white, with his signature black hat; Senny, also all in white, wearing an outfit from her mother’s home region, with touches of green. Even her chair matched her outfit. Absolutely stunning!

The two musicians interacted with their audience, sometimes playing the role of journalist when they asked each other questions. Senny took the opportunity to share her connection with the calabash even before she took up the kora. It was therefore predestined!

“The first part will be more traditional, we will go to the Mandinka Empire,” Zal informs us, while several of his students were in the room.

And then, in the following song, we discover Senny’s piercing and powerful voice, her smile lighting up the room. She sings mainly in Wolof, with occasional passages in English, and places humanity at the heart of the themes she explores in her songs. Sometimes Zal accompanies her on vocals, sometimes he simply plays his kora, plucking the strings in a unique way that only he knows how.

Between songs, they tune their instrument. “My kora is cold,” Senny jokes. Indeed, this is the kora virtuoso’s first time in Montreal, and she will take the opportunity to play several other dates across the country with Zal.

They alternate, sometimes Zal plays a piece from his repertoire and then it’s Senny’s turn to pick from her own, notably playing several pieces from her most recent album Yéné, released in 2024.

“Everything that is happening in the world right now, we had warnings before but we didn’t pay attention,” she said, introducing Missal, also in Yéné album.

Zal, in turn, shared with us a song in which he pays tribute to his father who has passed away, telling us anecdotes from his many stays in Senegal and the precious time he spent with him.

Together, they managed to get the room singing along to the song Yéné, before finishing with Niit, which means Human in Wolof.

And the cherry on top of the Sundae was the participation of the musician Lasso Sanou who came to close the evening with his flute, in the middle of the two koras.

That’s how we returned home in the storm, but with our hearts full of warmth.

Originaire de Goma, au Nord-Kivu, Dynoss Rich grandit dans une famille chrétienne protestante et découvre très tôt sa vocation musicale, dès l’âge de 10 ans. En 2010, il s’installe en Ouganda où il rejoint l’orchestre gospel Descendants de David avant de fonder, un an plus tard, son propre groupe, GEC, actif sur la scène locale. Arrivé au Canada en 2014, il poursuit sa mission musicale en cofondant le Christian Flag Band, un ensemble dédié à la louange à travers diverses églises du pays. En 2023, il intègre le groupe Kotakoli de Blaise Labamba, avec lequel il se produit sur plusieurs scènes internationales. En 2024, Dynoss Rich amorce sa carrière solo avec Dynoss Music, son orchestre complet, et partage ses créations originales sur les plateformes, dont le single populaire Bella.

Né du désir d’unifier le jazz moderne, la tradition afro-cubaine et les rythmes afro-colombiens, le projet façonne un langage musical vibrant et métissé. Depuis ses débuts, le groupe s’est imposé sur la scène locale de salsa et de latin jazz, reconnu pour son énergie, la finesse de ses arrangements et la richesse de ses influences. Son premier EP, Roots & Routes (2025), entre compositions originales et réinterprétations audacieuses, marque une étape décisive pour le groupe. Portée par des musiciens parmi les plus talentueux de Montréal, La Groovin’ Machine incarne le nouveau souffle de la musique afro-latine au Canada : une fusion entre tradition caribéenne, créativité contemporaine et multiculturalisme montréalais.
