Sur leur dernier album Spectrums, Odonis Odonis présente les extrémités de leurs marges musicales. En embrassant le gothique des années 80 et le mélodisme de la darkwave tout en maintenant une intensité industrielle, les dualités de leur son se révèlent sous un jour nouveau et saisissant. Avec quatre albums à leur actif, le duo torontois composé de Dean Tzenos et Denholm Whale a toujours suivi ses impulsions créatives où qu’elles soient. Pourtant, tout en retraçant leurs premières expériences avec le surf-rock et le shoegaze jusqu’à leurs plus récents tâtonnements dans l’EBM abrasif, ils n’ont jamais sonné de façon aussi illimitée que sur cet enregistrement.

On their newest album Spectrums, Odonis Odonis showcase the extreme ends of their musical margins. Embracing a love of ‘80s goth and darkwave melodicism while maintaining an industrial strength intensity, the dualities of their sound are revealed in a striking new light. With four albums under their belts, the Toronto-based duo of Dean Tzenos and Denholm Whale have always followed creative impulses wherever they might take them. Yet while tracing their earliest experiments with surf-rock and shoegaze into more recent dabblings in abrasive EBM, they have never sounded as sonically boundless as this compilation of tracks.

Shana a fait beaucoup de chemin depuis la sortie de son premier album ” Regarde-moi” en 2009, qui a reçu un disque d’or en Suisse. En effet, la chanson ” Distress “, en collaboration avec le célèbre party-rocker et DJ Big Ali, a été numéro 2 des charts français pendant plusieurs semaines à l’été 2011. Ils ont fait une tournée ensemble dans toute la France et la Suisse cette année-là. En 2013, Shana a sorti son 2e album intitulé ” Love Inferno ” et a fait la première partie de Justin Bieber à Strasbourg avec Big Ali. Depuis 2014, Shana est une artiste indépendante, ce qui signifie qu’elle fait tout elle-même de la partie financière à la partie promotionnelle et a pu élargir ses horizons en étant diffusée dans de nombreux pays mais aussi en faisant des concerts dans le monde entier : aux États-Unis, en Nouvelle-Zélande, en Indonésie, aux Philippines, en Malaisie, en Thaïlande, au Brésil, en Algérie, en Turquie, en France, en Grèce et en République tchèque.

Shana has gone a long way since the release of her first album « Regarde-moi» in 2009, which received a Gold disc in Switzerland. Indeed, the song «Distress», in collaboration with the famous party-rocker and DJ Big Ali, was number 2 in the French charts for several weeks in the summer of 2011. They toured together all over France and Switzerland that year. In 2013, Shana released her 2nd album called « Love Inferno » and opened for Justin Bieber in Strasbourg with Big Ali. Since 2014, Shana is an indie artist, which means that she does everything herself from the financial part to the promotional part and has been able to expand her horizons being aired in many countries but also doing concerts all around the world: in the USA, New-Zealand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Algeria, Turkey, France, Greece and Czech Republic.

Ayant grandi au sein d’une famille ayant une riche histoire en marge du son et de la performance, James, plus connu sous le nom de Dari Bay, a commencé très tôt dans la musique, faisant des tournées et enregistrant dès l’âge de 12 ans. Il s’est ensuite orienté dans de multiples directions, se lançant dans la production pour d’autres artistes et s’essayant à tout, du DJ-ing à l’improvisation bruitiste. La création de Dari Bay a été un moyen d’explorer une partie plus individuelle de son identité musicale, quelque chose de distinct des divers projets de collaboration dans lesquels il était impliqué. James a commencé à écrire des chansons très conceptuelles sur la nature, la magie, le surnaturel et d’autres bizarreries éphémères, qui se présentent sous la forme d’éclats d’une minute de psych-pop futuriste lo-fi.

Growing up in a family with a rich history in the fringes of sound and performance, James, better known as Dari Bay, got an early start in music, touring and recording as early as 12 years old. He branched out in multiple directions from there, getting into producing for other artists and dabbling in everything from DJ-ing to noisy improv. Forming Dari Bay served as a means to explore a more individualized part of his musical identity, something separate from the various collaborative projects he was involved with. James began writing highly conceptual songs about nature, magic, the supernatural, and other ephemeral weirdness that whirred by in the form of minute-long blasts of futuristic lo-fi psych-pop.

Another Tool in the Shed à la Casa del Popolo

Another Tool in the Shed est un projet qui rassemble des musiciens dans la petite ville de Vankleek Hill, en Ontario, où ils séjournent dans une caravane dans le jardin du Silver Studio pendant trois jours. Pendant cette période, ils se concentrent sur l’écriture de leurs chansons et leur interprétation, et à la fin, ils enregistrent un micro-set de trois sons dans la cabane de l’inspiration.

Another Tool in the Shed is a project that brings musicians to the small town of Vankleek Hill, Ontario, where they stay in a holiday trailer the garden of Silver Studio for a period of three days.. During that time they get to focus on their song writing, and performing, and at the end they record a three sonf micro-set in The Shed of Inspiration.

Au cours des deux années qui ont suivi la sortie de leur premier album, Public Acid a donné des concerts au travers des États-Unis et a élargi son catalogue via un flexi et quelques cassettes, s’attirant une attention et une adoration bien méritées de la part de ceux qui ont eu la chance d’être éclairés par ces scénarios et/ou formats physiques. Leur dernière sortie, l’EP “CONDEMNATION”, est constituée de 6 explosions urgentes de musique punk qui donnent lieu à un tourbillon sonore que peu d’autres ont concocté auparavant. Dans un genre qui est devenu dominé par des postures embarrassantes, cette dalle est une bouffée d’air frais très appréciée dans une ère d’étouffement et d’incertitude.

In the couple years since their self released 12″ came into being, Public Acid has gigged all over the United States and expanded their catalog further via a flexi and some cassettes, garnering much deserved attention and adoration from those fortunate enough to be enlightened with those scenarios and/or physical formats. Their latest release, the”CONDEMNATION” EP is 6 urgent blasts of punk music that result in a sonic whirlwind that few others have previously concocted. In a genre that has become dominated by embarrassing posturing, this slab is a much welcomed breath of fresh air in an age of suffocating and uncertainty.

Maple Run, basé au Vermont, a été décrit comme de l’Americana, du roots rock, de l’alt-country, du rock des années 70, du twang, du jam-band, de l’indie, du rétro, du country-folk, du folk-rock, un “soupçon des Allmans” et du cachemire underground, entre autres.

Le groupe s’est formé vers 2019 en tant que collaboration entre Trevor Crist (chant, guitare, piano, orgue) et Nicole Valcour (chant, batterie). Les deux avaient auparavant passé plusieurs années en tant que section rythmique du groupe alt-country Construction Joe. Avec le bassiste John “Spence” Spencer, ils ont commencé à se produire ensemble pour mettre en valeur les compositions de Crist, avec une signature sonore définie par les harmonies tressées de Crist et Valcour. Bill Mullins (Barbacoa, chalumeau) a rejoint le groupe peu de temps après, apportant son style unique et expressif de guitare électrique au mélange.

Vermont based Maple Run Band has been described as Americana, roots rock, alt-country, 70s rock, twang, jam-band, indie, retro, country-folk, folk-rock, “hint of the Allmans”, and paisley underground, among other things.

The band coalesced around 2019 as a collaboration between Trevor Crist (vocals, guitar, piano, organ) and Nicole Valcour (vocals, drums). The two had previously spent several years as the rhythm section of alt-country band Construction Joe. Along with bassist John “Spence” Spencer, they started performing together to showcase Crist’s songwriting, with a sonic signature defined by Crist and Valcour’s braided harmonies. Bill Mullins (Barbacoa, Blowtorch), joined shortly after, bringing his unique and expressive electric guitar stylings to the mix.

Montreal-based musician Markus Lake uses his laptop to improvise delicate and complex soundscapes combining digital synthesis and live signal processing techniques. Since his 2011 debut EP release, Lake’s recorded work has explored various themes through a constantly expanding palette of digital instruments.

THISQUIETARMY est le projet musical de l’artiste montréalais Eric Quach, un pionnier de la scène musicale expérimentale canadienne. Autour d’un drone de guitare improvisé et en combinant des éléments texturaux et structurels d’ambient/noise, d’électronique/shoegaze, de post-punk/krautrock, de black/doom metal, thisquietarmy crée un large éventail de paysages sonores dynamiques qui oscillent entre un minimalisme onirique répétitif, des textures bruitistes multicouches et des rythmes électroniques industriels.

THISQUIETARMY is the music project of Montreal-based artist Eric Quach, a pioneer of the Canadian experimental music scene. Revolving around improvised guitar drone and by combining textural & structural elements of ambient/noise, electronic/shoegaze, post-punk/krautrock, black/doom metal, thisquietarmy creates a wide range of dynamic soundscapes which oscillates between repetitive dreamy minimalism, multi-layered noise textures and electronic industrial beats.

Raam est un musicien irano-canadien. Il a commencé sa carrière musicale en tant que chanteur/auteur/fondateur d’Hypernova, un groupe post-punk de New York, qui est né dans les sous-sols de Téhéran au début des années 2000. Après un succès modeste avec Hypernova, il décide de poursuivre une carrière solo sous le nom de King Raam. Après plusieurs années d’aventures entre New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Londres, Los Angeles, Berlin et Téhéran, Raam est revenu dans la grande pomme pour entamer le prochain chapitre de sa vie.

Raam is an Iranian/Canadian musician. He started his musical career as the singer/songwriter/founder of Hypernova, a post-punk band in New York, which was born in the undergrounds of Tehran in the early 2000’s. After some modest success with Hypernova, he decided to pursue a solo career under the name of King Raam. After several years of adventures between New York, Toronto, Vancouver, London, Los Angeles, Berlin and Tehran, Raam has come back to the big apple to begin the next chapter of his life.

Zachary Lucky à Casa Del Popolo

L’auteur-compositeur Zachary Lucky, nominé pour plusieurs prix, est indéniablement un chanteur country de la vieille école, armé d’une voix rauque et barytonne. Il se comporte comme un Richard Buckner plus jeune ou un Doug Paisley plus chaleureux et on le compare souvent à des auteurs-compositeurs tels que Gordon Lightfoot et Kris Kristofferson. Il chante les lieux et les gens du Canada avec autant d’aisance que Townes Van Zandt ou le Rio Grande. C’est un spectacle auquel on peut s’identifier à bien des égards et qui évoque des sentiments universels qui ont traversé nos lignes du temps collectives.

Award nominated songwriter Zachary Lucky is unapologetically old-school country, armed with a husky, baritone voice – He carries himself like a younger Richard Buckner or a heartier Doug Paisley and often receives comparisons to songwriters such as Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson. He sings of Canadian places and people as knowingly as he might Townes Van Zandt or the Rio Grande. It’s a relatable show on many levels, and conjures universal feelings that have passed through our collective timelines.
