The Besnard Lakes are probably one of the most underrated groups in Montreal. After delivering the sublime Are The Dark Horse in 2007, they return with mostly the same formula for Are The Roaring Night — epic post-rock-shoegaze tracks in crescendos, vocal harmonies from the romantic duo Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, and crackling guitar tones. Lasek’s production is more loaded and clear, while the songs are catchier.
