The English artist came back in force after two collaborative recordings (one with Brian Eno, the other with King Creosote) and Insides, released in 2009. Although strong in its melodic aspects, the music of Immunity is conceptual, manufactured to spec with processed sounds of the human body and symphonic echoes. By achieving this delicate balance between organic and synthetic, by proposing brilliant juxtapositions of styles and sounds, reaching for something universal, Jon Hopkins proved to be a true goldsmith of electro music, among the great contemporary producers.
