With Airs de Jeux, Ariane Moffatt returns to a musical lightness reminiscent of her 2008 album Tous les sens, where upbeat rhythms and playful melodies were already an invitation to escape. Unveiled by surprise on Sunday night’s Star Académie show, this new album comes when spring freshness is felt, adding a vibrant touch to the atmosphere.

As its name suggests, Airs de Jeux revolves around the theme of play – playing to forget, indulging in liberating spontaneity. Here, Moffatt explores a more carefree dimension, seeking to awaken that part of childhood that we too often put aside. Through synth-pop arrangements tinged with retro sweetness, the artist invites us to let go, a necessary break in a world that is often too serious.

The album’s visual aesthetic is perfectly in tune with this playful approach. Extravagant costumes, large sunglasses and whimsical scenes – such as a candlelit dinner featuring teddy bears, blurred photos and childhood memories – create a world that is both quirky and nostalgic. These visual choices amplify the album’s message: rediscover the wonder of a child’s eye and embrace the absurd with tenderness.

The tracks oscillate between luminous synthetic textures and organic grooves, creating a space where music becomes a sonic playground. The lyrics, both sensitive and full of hope, remind us that allowing oneself to play is also a way of rediscovering a form of freedom.

The album tous les sens had already made its mark with its ability to combine emotional depth and catchy rhythms. Airs de Jeux continues in this vein, while renewing the approach, offering tracks where the playful spirit flirts with the contemplative. The listener is invited to plunge into a universe where music becomes a playground for the mind, a joyful refuge both light and comforting.
