Ada Lea
Ada Lea est le projet musical mené par Alexandra Levy, originaire de Montréal. Elle a sorti deux albums sous les labels Saddle Creek et Next Door Records (CA), notamment what we say in private et one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden, qui lui ont valu une place sur la longue liste du Prix Polaris en 2022. Le troisième album d’Ada Lea, annoncé comme son meilleur à ce jour, est prévu pour 2025.
Ada Lea is the musical project led by Montreal’s Alexandra Levy. She has two albums released by Saddle Creek and Next Door Records (CA), including “what we say in private” and “one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden”, which earned her a spot on the Polaris Prize Long List in 2022. The third Ada Lea album—rumoured to be her best yet—is set for release in 2025.
Prewn
Izzy Hagerup décrit le temps immersif passé en studio comme une expérience « bouleversante », en grande partie grâce à l’isolement total qui a permis de se concentrer uniquement sur la création. « Je pouvais vraiment être seule, ce qui m’a menée à être plus prolifique que je ne l’aurais jamais imaginé. » Le résultat est d’une beauté saisissante et d’une intensité viscérale triomphante. Ces sessions, combinées à quelques ajouts enregistrés à domicile (ensuite mixés et masterisés par McMahon), ont donné naissance à Through The Window, le premier album de Prewn, entièrement interprété par Izzy Hagerup, qui insuffle une touche unique à ses chansons. Sorti le 25 août 2023 sous le label Exploding In Sound Records (Pile, Ovlov, Floatie), l’album se distingue par l’immédiateté et la sincérité de ses enregistrements en solo. Au cœur de cet opus se trouve une expression brute et authentique d’idées et d’émotions. Izzy prépare actuellement le deuxième album de Prewn, dont la sortie est prévue sur Exploding In Sound en mars 2025. Restez à l’écoute !
Izzy Hagerup describes the immersive time spent in the studio as “life changing,” in large part due to the pure isolation where “creating was the focus and I could really be alone, leading me to find myself more prolific than I ever thought I could be.” The results are staggeringly beautiful and triumphantly visceral. Those sessions along with some home-recorded additions (later mixed and mastered by McMahon) came to be Through The Window, Prewn’s debut album, performed entirely by Izzy Hagerup, bringing her songs to life with a distinctive touch. Released August 25th, 2023 via Exploding In Sound Records (Pile, Ovlov, Floatie), there’s an immediacy and earnest nature to the solo recordings, at its core it’s an outpouring of unfiltered ideas and emotions. Izzy is readying the 2nd Prewn record for release on Exploding in Sound in March of 2025. Stay tuned!
