Saramba Kouyate au Club Balattou

Née à Kouroula dans la région de Kita au Mali, Saramba Kouyaté est la descendante d’une longue lignée de griots : les Kouyate. Saramba Kouyate chante depuis sa plus tendre enfance auprès de sa mère Djenetenin Kouyaté et poursuit son apprentissage de l’art griotique auprès du grand parolier Kelemonzon Diabate. Elle a également fait partie du groupe mythique les Mandekalou, composé notamment de Sekouba Bambino et Kandia Kouyaté. Elle fut reconnue dans toute la région de Kita comme l’une des plus belles voix de sa génération. 

Elle lance son premier album ‘’56’’, produit par Goro Daou en 2004, qui lance sa carrière d’artiste. Quatre autres albums ont vu le jour suite à ce premier. Elle est considérée de nos jours comme une ngara, titres donnés aux grandes chanteuses, faisant partie de la classe supérieure du griotisme. Sa maîtrise de l’histoire mandingue et des chants traditionnels font d’elle l’un des grands piliers des gardiens de la culture mandingue.



Born in Kouroula in the region of Kita in Mali, Saramba Kouyaté is the descendant of a long line of griots: The Kouyate. Saramba Kouyate has been singing since she was a child with her mother Djenetenin Kouyate and continued her apprenticeship in the art of griotry with the great lyricist Kelemonzon Diabate.  She was also a member of the mythical group Mandekalou, which included Sekouba Bambino and Kandia Kouyate. She was recognized in the whole region of Kita as one of the most beautiful voices of her generation. 

She launched her first album “56”, produced by Goro Daou in 2004, which launched her career as an artist. Four other albums were released following this first one. She is considered nowadays as a ngara, titles given to the great singers, being part of the upper class of griotism. Her mastery of Mandingo history and traditional songs make her one of the great pillars of the guardians of Mandingo culture.
