Valérie Milot is a musician and entrepreneur forging her own path off the beaten track.
A sought-after soloist, Valérie regularly performs a rich concert repertoire with renowned orchestras. At the same time, her YouTube channel has amassed over three million views of her musical performances.
Her numerous collaborations — with soprano Marianne Lambert, cellist Stéphane Tétreault, among others — have led to an extensive discography and frequent appearances on stage, radio, and television.
Valérie is a harp professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she earned a Prix avec Grande Distinction under the tutelage of Caroline Lizotte in 2008. That same year, she won the Prix d’Europe, becoming the first harpist in nearly 100 years to receive this honour. Many other accolades followed, including Radio-Canada’s Révélation de l’année.
Valérie performs on a Salvi “Apollonia” harp, generously loaned by Canimex, a company based in Drummondville owned by patron of the arts Roger Dubois.
Recipient of countless awards and distinctions, Stéphane Tétreault won the 2019 Virginia Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts. He also received the 2023 Opus Prize for “Album of the Year” (Transfiguration with Valérie Milot) and the 2022 Opus Prize for “Performer of the Year,” awarded by the Conseil québécois de la musique.
In 2016, he made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin and performed at the prestigious Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland. During the 2017-2018 season, he participated in the Orchestre Métropolitain’s first European tour with Nézet-Séguin and made his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2018, he received the Maureen Forrester Next Generation Award from the Stratford Summer Music Festival in recognition of his sensitivity, mastery of his instrument, and exceptional communication skills. He was also part of Gautier Capuçon’s Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in 2015 and received the Career Development Award from the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto.
Earlier in his career, Stéphane won First Prize at the 2007 OSM Standard Life Competition, was named Radio-Canada’s Classical Music Révélation, and earned the Découverte de l’année Opus Prize as well as Personnalité de la semaine by La Presse.
